Meanwhile
Amanda and Odette are riding around to see if there is any trace of their husbands, calling their names while they do so. After a few minutes of hollering, they didn't get a response.
"Where could they be?" Asked Odette. "Who knows? We need to look for clues." Said Amanda. "Good idea. Hey, maybe we can start by searching the beach down there." Odette said. "Let's split up while we do this, but don't travel too far." Amanda said.
The girls go in separate directions as they try looking for clues, singing at the same time.
Amanda: There's something wicked out there
We feel it in the air
It whispers, "Come and find me if you dare!"
Odette: We sense disaster lurking
Must save the neighborhood
This monster must be stopped for good
Both: We're sisters on a mission
We'll keep on searchin'
Sisters on a mission
Whether by day or moonlight
Sisters on a mission
We'll keep on workin'
Sisters on a mission
Making it safe out at night
Amanda: We see a full moon rising
We hear the howls at night
But you remain out of our sight
Odette: We know we're getting closer
We don't know what's in store
But clues are leading to your door
Both: We're sisters on a mission
We'll keep on searchin'
Sisters on a mission
Whether by day or moonlight
Sisters on a mission
We'll keep on workin'
Sisters on a mission
Making it safe out at night
We're sisters on a mission
We'll keep on searchin'
Sisters on a mission
Whether by day or moonlight
Sisters on a mission
We'll keep on workin'
Sisters on a mission
Making it safe out at night
About five minutes later, they meet back up with each other. "Find anything?" Asked Odette. "Yeah, did you?" Asked Amanda. "Yes. You first." Odette said. "First I saw something shining in the sand. Turns out, it's this locket." Amanda said.
Odette studies the locket. "Hmm, looks similar to mine. Only there's no swan on it." She said. "Maybe there's a name on the other side." Said Amanda. Odette hands the locket back to her sister, who flips the locket over to find a name.
Zora
"It belongs... or maybe belonged, to a girl named Zora." Amanda said. "That's a pretty name, Zora." Odette said. "Agreed. What did you find, sis?" Asked Amanda. "It's not a lot, but check out this bracelet." Said Odette. She hands it to Amanda, who studies it.
Sybil
"Another piece of jewelry with a name on it." Amanda said. "What do you think they mean?" Odette asked. "I don't know, but I did find this very old newspaper by the rocks." Said Amanda. "How old are we talking about?" Asked Odette.
Amanda shrugs, then the girls read the article to get more info, and even studied the pictures of the people regarding the story.
Sisters Killed In A Lab Accident
September 5, 1915
25 year old Zora Balcom was dissecting a brain when her younger sister, 20 year old Sybil, said she smelled something strange.
It turned out to be an experiment they ignored, causing a massive explosion, and them to suffer third degree burns from the chemicals that took their lives.
Even before working in their own lab, the Balcom sisters had sinister desires to dissect brains from innocent civilians.
"Whoa, did you see the date?!" Amanda asked in shock. "I did! This was way before we were even born!" Odette said. "And what the heck is a brain dissection?" Asked Amanda. "No idea. Wait, the locket!" Said Odette with realization. "What about it?" Amanda asked. "You said it had Zora's name on it, right? Open it and see what's inside." Odette said.
Amanda opens the locket and sees two pictures inside it, then compares them to the ones on the paper. The left side has Sybil, and the right has her with Zora.
"They must've been close." Said Amanda. "Close and evil. Remember when it said they had sinister desires to dissect brains?" Asked Odette. "Whatever dissecting is, I guarantee it's disgusting!" Amanda said. "I don't even wanna know what it is. Maybe we can ask some people if they know anything about the Balcom sisters." Odette said.
"I don't know if that's possible. This paper is from fifty years ago, and I doubt people are gonna be familiar with a story from that long ago. Besides, people don't usually keep newspapers for a long period of time, they get thrown out at the end of the day." Said Amanda. "You never know until we try, and it might be our only chance of finding Paul and Derek. Come on." Said Odette.
