**Chapter 2: The First Test**

Yuuji stood frozen, staring at the armored knight kneeling before him. The sword in the knight's hands radiated heat, the flames dancing across its edge like something out of an anime battle scene. Everything felt surreal, yet all too real. The weight of the situation finally hit him: this wasn't a dream, and there was no waking up from it.

"Master," the knight spoke, his voice low and reverent. "What are your orders?"

Yuuji blinked, his mind scrambling to process the question. Orders? What kind of orders could he give? He didn’t know how to fight or lead—he wasn’t even sure how the summon had worked. The council members around him looked on expectantly, as though waiting for their savior to spring into action.

Before Yuuji could respond, a deep rumble echoed through the stone chamber. The air itself seemed to tremble as cracks spread along the walls. Malakar’s eyes widened in alarm, and the council members whispered frantically to one another.

“It’s too soon,” Malakar muttered under his breath, before turning toward Yuuji. “Hero! The Abyssal Lord’s forces are near! This castle is under attack.”

The ground shook again, and dust rained down from the ceiling. Yuuji’s pulse quickened. An attack? Already? He had just gotten here! He wasn’t prepared for this.

“Can’t you, like, give me a tutorial or something?” Yuuji stammered, gripping his phone tightly. “I don’t even know how to fight!”

Malakar’s face remained stern, but there was a flicker of sympathy in his eyes. “There is no time for hesitation. Your summons are powerful, and you must learn through action.”

As if to punctuate his words, a portion of the wall exploded inward, and through the dust and debris, Yuuji could make out twisted shapes emerging from the breach. They were creatures of shadow—hulking, malformed beasts with glowing red eyes and jagged claws. The Abyssal Lord’s minions.

“Enemies incoming!” shouted one of the council members, drawing a blade. “Defend the chamber!”

Yuuji’s heart raced. This wasn’t like fighting in his game; this was real, and those creatures looked intent on tearing them apart. He had to do something. He looked at the knight he had summoned, who stood up, his sword blazing with fiery intensity.

“Okay… uh, Knight guy!” Yuuji stammered. “Attack those… things!”

The knight didn’t hesitate. With a swift movement, he charged toward the incoming monsters, his flaming sword cutting through the air with a burning arc. The first shadow beast lunged at him, but the knight slashed through it effortlessly, the creature dissolving into black smoke with a screech. Another monster roared and swung its massive claws, but the knight parried the blow, countering with a thrust that pierced the beast’s core.

Yuuji watched in awe. The knight was incredibly powerful, and for the first time since arriving in this world, he felt a small surge of confidence. Maybe this summoning power really could help him survive.

But the creatures kept coming, and the knight—despite his strength—couldn’t fight them all alone. Yuuji’s hand hovered over his phone. *I need more help.*

He quickly scrolled through his gacha game’s interface, heart pounding as he hit the summon button again. The familiar animation played, and this time, a magical archer appeared on his screen—a lithe woman with silver hair and a bow infused with lightning.

As soon as the summon completed, the archer materialized beside him, bow in hand.

“I am at your service, Master,” she said, her voice cool and focused.

“Awesome!” Yuuji exclaimed. “Okay, uh, shoot those shadow things!”

Without missing a beat, the archer raised her bow and fired a barrage of electrified arrows. The arrows struck multiple creatures, lightning crackling through their bodies and reducing them to ash in seconds.

The battle raged on, but with both the knight and the archer fighting at his command, the tide began to turn. Yuuji’s summons were strong—far stronger than he had ever imagined. He found himself cheering as they took down enemy after enemy, his initial fear slowly fading.

But just as he began to feel some semblance of control, a new threat emerged.

From the shadows, a towering figure stepped forward. It was much larger than the other creatures, its body wrapped in dark, twisting tendrils of energy. Its eyes glowed an intense red, and its presence seemed to sap the light from the room.

“An Abyssal General!” Malakar’s voice was filled with dread. “Hero, you must defeat it, or all is lost!”

Yuuji swallowed hard. The Abyssal General was clearly no ordinary enemy. Its power radiated from it like a dark sun, and even his knight and archer paused for a moment, sensing the danger.

He opened his phone again, desperate to find something that could help. He needed more than just power—he needed strategy. In his game, he had always relied on rare supports and high-level spells to get through tough bosses. Maybe that was the key here too.

Yuuji’s fingers hovered over the gacha screen, and he decided to go all-in, burning every in-game currency he had to perform a multi-summon. He watched with bated breath as the wheel spun, lights flashing in every direction.

Finally, the summon revealed itself: a powerful mage, shrouded in blue robes, wielding both fire and ice magic. She appeared beside him, her expression calm and serene despite the chaos.

“Your enemies shall fall before the storm, Master,” the mage said softly.

Yuuji pointed at the Abyssal General. “Okay, I need you to nuke that thing! Don’t hold back!”

The mage stepped forward, raising her hands as a torrent of magical energy swirled around her. With a sudden motion, she unleashed a combined blast of fire and ice, the elements swirling together into a destructive force that crashed into the Abyssal General.

The creature howled in pain, its dark form writhing as the magic tore through it. Yuuji’s other summons followed up, the knight delivering a powerful strike and the archer launching a final volley of electrified arrows.

With a final, ear-splitting roar, the Abyssal General disintegrated, its body consumed by the combined power of Yuuji’s summoned allies. The chamber grew still, the shadows retreating as the last of the creatures vanished.

Yuuji let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. The battle was over. He had won—at least for now.

As he stood there, catching his breath, Malakar approached, his face a mixture of relief and awe.

“You fought bravely, Hero,” Malakar said, bowing slightly. “The Abyssal Lord’s forces will not relent, but with your power, we may yet stand a chance.”

Yuuji looked down at his phone, still buzzing softly in his hand. He had never imagined his gacha game addiction would one day save a kingdom. Yet, here he was—a summoner in a world that desperately needed him.

“Yeah,” Yuuji muttered to himself, “but I’ve gotta figure out how to not run out of pulls…”

As the dust settled, Yuuji realized something: this wasn’t just about summoning rare characters anymore. It was about survival. And he had no choice but to get stronger, or risk being pulled into a darkness far beyond anything he’d ever faced before.
