Maybe Tomorrow

Maybe tomorrow we will go on a picnic.

I will bring snacks and you can bring a blanket.

We can bring a canvas to paint all of our feelings.

We could stand up and dance to that song you like.

Maybe tomorrow it will rain again.

A grave storm that will force us inside.

We can have a movie marathon all day long.

Maybe you will finally get into the stories I like.

Maybe tomorrow we can go out on a real date.

We could go out to the movies and get ice cream.

I would love to try that Asian restaurant you spoke of.

Maybe I can take you to that fancy place I went once.

Maybe tomorrow we will simply meet on the train.

On our way home we can talk about our day.

We can listen to some songs as we share earphones.

Maybe we can fall asleep on each other's shoulders.

Maybe tomorrow will be different from any other day.

Maybe you will come over and we can bake bread.

I promise to make it extra cheesy just how you like it.

I will stick to my plain white, but I love to see you smile.

Maybe tomorrow we will have to spend the day away from each other.

However, we are never apart. Not entirely. Fourteen hours in a call is nothing.

Maybe we will not be able to call anyway. In that case, I will write poems for you.

Maybe when you come back you will breathe life into them as you always do.

Maybe tomorrow we will get married.

Maybe tomorrow we will have kids.

Maybe tomorrow you'll say you love me.

Maybe tomorrow I will forgive us both.

Maybe all of this was a mistake, and I should have been stronger.

Maybe we are both flawed and cursed to fail over and over again.

Or maybe we were just meant to pass each other by in life like shooting stars.

Maybe we were meant to teach each other valuable life lessons.

Maybe it was not a mistake after all.

I know things I didn't back then.

I tasted more of life than I ever had.

Maybe this was just a test.

Maybe life is testing us.

Maybe this is a great trial.

Maybe we will become memories.

Or maybe we will succeed with time.

Maybe we will meet again in a few years when we are older and wiser.

Maybe then we will understand the value of time, patience, effort, and love.

Maybe tomorrow we will be able to look at life in a different light.

Maybe tomorrow everything will be much better than today.
