"Earth to Gong Jun!," the woman sitting next to him exclaimed, her voice laced with exasperation. "Jun Ge Ge, I know you've been stuck in the Xiao's mansion for what feels like an eternity, but does it really take that long to get your head straight? First, you act like you've seen a ghost after coming back, then everyone around you becomes a ghost because you can't even see them, and now you've reached peak ghost status – you're turning into one yourself! What in the world happened?"
Gong Jun only snapped out of his trance-like state a minute and twenty-five seconds later, before promptly going offline again.
"Is he even on this planet anymore?" she muttered to herself, shaking her head. "Calm down, your brother is sick, calm down," she whispered, trying to soothe her own anxieties. "Only because he's my brother am I trying to keep the peace, but I'm already on the verge of violence witnessing this kind of drama. I'm not used to it." She glanced at her brother again, worry etched on her face.
She looked around, hoping to find some solace, but instead, she found another catastrophe.
"Lucas, great, why is he here?" she whispered, but her voice was loud enough for Gong Jun to hear. The mention of his name snapped Gong Jun out of his frozen state, and he looked around frantically before locking eyes with his sister.
"At the mention of his name you snap back? What's up?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Isn't Lucas the right hand of the Zhang family? Very trusted and..."
"Yep, right, Father said so... Can you please not mention his name? He's the last person I want to see."
Gong Jun smiled, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Aren't you familiar with him? You always talk about him. It's annoying, honestly. Even if a million people were in this room, you'd notice him."
The girl smiled back, but it wasn't a bright, polite smile. It was more like someone who had been misunderstood. "Are you alright now, brother? Or has your sickness gotten worse? Of course, everyone will always notice their hated person's presence, it's an instinct. If you don't notice them, are you even in a gang?"
Gong Jun just shook his head, downing another glass of wine. "We don't really have to hate them, right? Just because they're against us?"
"Huh?!" The girl exclaimed, looking at Gong Jun with a mix of confusion and surprise. "What did the gang boss's son just say? Did the gang boss's son turn pacifist because of the haunted mansion? What kind of ghost taught him to be a saint?"
"You'll notice the one you hate even amongst billions of people," Gong Jun said, "but you'll find someone you will love even if they weren't there. It's just a complete illusion."
The girl shut her eyes, looked away, and facepalmed herself. "It's done, it's over. He suddenly became a poet! Damn, was he possessed?!" she shouted, exasperated.
She didn't know what had happened, but whatever it was, it had turned her brother into a peace-loving, mad philanthropist.
"It's... Why do I suddenly feel like I don't know the person beside me! Come on, let's meet Father and explain this to him." She grabbed Gong Jun's hand and dragged him out of the bar and towards their house.
After a long, chaotic journey, the woman dragged Gong Jun to where their father was and forced him to sit down, face to face with the man.
"Father, brother has... something to say," she blurted out, wanting to get this over with as quickly as possible. Honestly, she had no idea what was going on with her brother, and she just wanted it to stop before she went insane.
Upon hearing this, the old man fell silent, his ears fully focused on Gong Jun, who was now struggling to figure out how to tell his father about what happened. He couldn't say that he had suddenly fallen in love with a Zhang family member inside the haunted mansion, a runaway from his responsibilities, who happened to be Zhehan, the ultimate heir to the other gang. If he said that, who knows if his father would pull out his world's fastest bullet or a nice nuclear bomb to end it all.
"So... Gong Jun..." his father said sternly.
"It was a good brainstorming session before I came up with a bright idea, but this is... Whatever, she's in fault anyway," Gong Jun whispered, his voice barely audible. He then cleared his throat and turned to his father, trying to sound as serious as possible. "Uhmm... Father, I just... just... found out Sandra [the girl] fell in love with another Zhang's person, their right-hand man's son, Lucas...""EXCUSE ME?!" Sandra exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief. She looked like she was about to burst into flames, and Gong Jun couldn't help but stifle a laugh.
"Sandra, is that true?" The old man's voice was serious, intimidating. Sandra gulped, her gaze shifting to Gong Jun, who was looking away, shielding his face with a fan he had found on the table. He was trying to contain his laughter, but the fan was shaking so violently it looked like it was about to take flight.
"It can't be true," Sandra said, her voice shaking slightly.
"But can be real?" His father replied, his tone unwavering.
"I-i this... I never know Lucas!" Sandra defended, her voice rising in frustration.
"But you know Lucas's schedule by heart," his father answered, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"It's not that I... You told me to check it. I just memorized... Father!"
"Forget it, Sandra. If you want the man, take him to me. Whatever method you want to use, I'll test him... He can be a part of us as long as he's just a member and not anything related to the Zhangs."
He looked at his sister, who was fuming, and then back at his father, who seemed to be enjoying the show. Gong Jun sighed. He had a feeling this was going to be a very long night.
After hearing what has their father stated. Gong Jun's mind went all messed up. So... that's it. Whatever it was meant to be. I... won't be able to see him again.
His now just like the ghost I left in that haunted mansion. Likewise same situation as before.
When I open my eyes, he'll no longer be there, and when he opens his eyes, I'll... long gone.
