Casey's P.O.V

~Two years earlier~
Los Angeles, California

"I'm pregnant!" Lauren said excitedly with a ClearBlue pregnancy test in her hand. "Casey baby I'm pregnant." I was still in shock as I looked at my excited wife, the woman I had known since middle school. She had become my loving wife after all these years. The complete meaning of a sweetheart. This was a wonderful way to surprise me as I was on set for my new funny silent movie called "With no words, I become"  I dropped the golden walking cane that I was holding in my hand, forgetting about the next circus scene.

My people, including the director, stopped what they were doing to congratulate me. It was a moment everyone was waiting for. The moment I was a father. "I'm a dad," I said out loud. "I'm a fucking dad." The crew laughed and clapped, wishing the best for me.

I took Lauren in my arms, kissing her with all the power I got. Her cheeks were extremely pink from all of that blushing and that happiness. I ran my fingers through her long curly blonde hair, taking her all in. My wife, the mother of my child. Fuck, I loved this woman so damn much. "Yes," she cried. "And you're going to be an amazing dad. I love you so much, Casey."

Lots of tears started falling down my eyes at the thought of my life changes. We would have a child to take care of in one of our huge mansions. It was time to hire a nanny in the meantime. We had to prepare for our future. It was me, Lauren, and our child. We had it all. "Baby, this is a summer to not forget."

"Lucky Summer," she said sweetly. She was so damn beautiful, the most beautiful woman in the world to me. I laid my hand on the small beauty dot she had over her left eyebrow.

"My beautiful queen."

She giggled lightly, her eyes looking at me in love. I was madly in love with Lauren. "Can I look at the scene?" She asked lovingly.

"Get my beautiful, pregnant wife a chair."

"And cut," one of the crew said jokingly.

"A healthy heartbeat," our family doctor said with the ultrasound device on top of my wife's growing belly. "Mrs. Friedman everything is going quite well with your pregnancy. Your baby girl is healthy and the blood work is normal. Your due date is in three months. I want you to take lots of rest."

Lauren took my hand in hers and smiled. "I can't wait to meet her. My sweet flower bloom. Baby Claire." Happy tears fell out of my eyes from the thought of meeting my baby girl soon. I was going to spoil my little girl. I'd always wanted a daughter.

"Me too, my love. Me too." I squeezed my wife's hand, assuring her that she would have a great birth. She always wondered about giving birth, and the pain of it all.

"Congratulations to you both. I knew you had been planning since the day you got married." Doctor Thompson was a Black female doctor that we'd known for so many years. She helped in the birth of most people in my family. She was the perfect person for the job.

"Thanks, Doc."

"Continue eating healthy. And please be there when she needs it, Mr. Friedman. I know how much of a workaholic you are. On second thought, how is the movie getting along? I heard there was a pause in production because of the death of the crew member." One of the actors died from a brain aneurysm before the last part. Because of his death, we needed to change a few things.

"It will be released soon."

"I love the plot. And the silence part of it. A loner who got hired as a ringmaster meets a troublemaker with a craving for making circusgoers feel unwelcome. And you have to stop it from happening before the circus shuts down. I can't wait to see it."

"Thank you, Dr Thompson. It will be worth watching. I can invite you to the private viewing."

"You are such a darling, Mr. Friedman. Thank you! Can I bring my stepdaughter? She is a huge fan."

I nodded. "Of course. You're family."

Lauren still had that massive smile. To be pregnant with a loving husband like me could make every woman happy to have me at their side.

*BREAKING NEWS*

Comedian and actor Casey Friedman suffered a loss this weekend. His wife Lauren Kelly Friedman was a victim in a deadly traffic collision that left her and her unborn child dead. The crash is still under investigation. Please have Casey and his family in your thoughts as they go through these difficult times.

I died that day.

And became a man of lots of therapy sessions.

I was in a grieving stage.

I was not myself during the funeral. I wanted to be buried with her.

I watched as the casket went slowly down the earth.

The love of my life was gone. Gone was the baby girl I never met. I would never see what she would become. My sweet Lauren and my baby Claire were gone forever.

But they will forever be in my heart.
