as i sat there / i felt the bark of the old oak tree press against my back / & the leaves rustle softly in the gentle breeze / i looked up to see the sky / a brilliant shade of blue / dotted with puffy white clouds /
i’ve been thinking about love a lot lately / i don’t know if it’s about finding completion in someone else / or maybe it’s about finding a part of ourselves in them /
perhaps / love is just a reflection / a chance to see ourselves through someone else’s eyes / it’s about recognizing our own beauty / & embracing the best and the worst /
i never truly understood what people meant when they said when you know / you know / but then i met you / & i realized i had never really known what love was before / because with you / it just felt different /
i’m not sure i can explain it / that time‚ when our eyes first met / & our hearts beat in sync / in that moment / there was no doubt / no fear / no questions – maybe it was the way you made me feel / or the way we could talk for hours without ever running out of things to say—just you & me / there was something in the way you spoke / the way you moved / the way you looked at me . .
i felt like i had found home / & i never wanted to leave /
