Hongjoong

"Take the dragons with you, I'll stay behind to keep an eye on the cabin and the thieves." Yunho says, handing the ones leaving for the ice folks everything necessarry.

Minho had already gone off to search for Seonghwa. Hongjoong, Wooyoung, and Jongho would be heading to the mountains right away.

"I believe the house is very secured with Chan and San in it." Hongjoong took the stuff from Yunho with a reassuring smile.

"Please be careful." San says, standing infront of Wooyoung and cupped his face in his hands.

"We're wishing you guys the best luck, hopefully you'll find him." Chan smiled their way.

"Thanks." Hongjoong mirrored the smile.

Yeosang steps in after having a small discussion with Jongho, "You guys should head now, the earlier you find him, the better."

"The dragons are ready to go." Mingi announced, walking through the door.

The next they knew, the three took off almost immediately. Wasting no time to save their friend.

It took them very long to arrive and when they did, the sun was already setting. They were wasting too much time before they could even reach Drew's cave.

The ice dragon was peacefully sleeping until it smelled their scent and automatically woke up. Luck for them, he started to move fast and before they knew it, they high up in the sky again, heading to the mountains. Clutching the warm and fluffy coats to themselves so the cold couldn't bother them. It was very helpful knowing how low the temperature here is.

They didn't have to worry about freezing to death, tonight.

It was when they safely landed on the mountain, the cold snow crunching under their feet with every step they took that left deep footprints behind. Drew politely following them where ever they went.

"He has to be around here somewhere." Wooyoung says to himself, analyzing his surroundings which was nothing more than white snow. "There can't be another hide out, right?"

"I hope so." said Jongho.

"He can't be that far." Hongjoong added.

Drew then yawned, obviously not used to be awake during the day because he is more active during the night.

A sudden loud grumble startled them, making everyone stop in their tracks with fear washing over them.

"What was that?" Wooyoung says under his breath.

They felt the ground beneath their feet shake, can a mountain still be affected this badly by an earthquake? Or was it just something else..

Hongjoong turned his face to the higher side of the mountain, a horrified expression plastered on his face. "Avalanche!" he yelled out, pointing towards the large pile of snow about to crash in their direction at an abnormally rapid pace.

He immediately helped Wooyoung and Jongho climb up Drew's back but when it was his turn, the snow beneath his feet started to disappear, creating a large hole that swallowed him and the avalance eventually covering the massive hole on the ground.

"Hongjoong!" Jongho and Wooyoung petrifiedly exclaimed.

They made Drew land back on the ground as they started to dig up the snow with their bare hands that started to sting after now and then because of the coldness.

Meanwhile, Hongjoong was still somehow consciouss. He wasn't suffocated by the large pile of mush because he had fallen to a small cave that had an opening that had swallowed him whole.

Ice cold water filled the small cave with an another opening that he could use to escape. With his drenched clothes and trembling body from the cold, he made his way to leave.

This had to be the hideout where Seonghwa was brought to. It was very hidden and almost impossible to find. If it wasn't for the avalanche he wouldn't be here.

His body trembled with every step he took, hugging himself very tightly to keep himself warm which was barely working. The breath his mouth let out created smoke from how cold it was.

Everything was white and slightly blue. The pirates always avoided stepping foot in the Ice Folks because of the deadly low climate but rescuing Seonghwa from here was a different story.

A staircase made of pure ice was sitting ahead of him, reaching to the very top of the mountain. He was so close. Just needed to tolerate the deadly temperature a little more.

The moment he reached the final step of the slippery ice staircase, his heart dropped to his stomach.

"Seonghwa.." he breathed heavily.

Hongjoong's heart was beating very fast but not in a good way. Now he can't imagine that Seonghwa had been freezing for god kmows how long. He still looked the same the day he left, only his appearance.

Seonghwa was just standing there in thin clothes, more like his feet were levitating off of the ice ground. His body frozen. Covered in white snow, his hair completely white, skin turned very pale and so did his lips that were chapped with blood, rosy cheeks. He looked quite blue-ish. He was frozen in ice. Frozen in time.

Hongjoong's hands reached out for his body and oh he was stone cold. He was more colder than Hongjoong. He managed to drag him back down to his feet but when it happened, a strong blast of wind attacked him. Hongjoong strained at the coldness.

His brain couldn't think straight from the temperature, they needed to leave the place as soon as possible. But how was he supposed to take Seonghwa with him when he can't even keep himself upright.

Suddenly, Seonghwa eyes began to flutter as the wind continued to get stronger. Hongjoong's body twitching badly. The last thing he could think of is to take off his soakrd fluffy coat and wrap it around Seonghwa's body since he looked like he needed it more than he does right now.

Even if this would be the end of his life, he'd rather die knowing he did his best to find Seonghwa. And he was successful enough to find him here. The only problem was is that he started to get weaker.

The strong wind now surrounded them, or Hongjoong specifically. He could still take a glance at Seonghwa's hair which was dancing with the wind. Snow everywhere around them, trapping them in a large circle of coldness.

Atleast he got to stand infront of Seonghwa for the last time. Maybe this is how it all ends. Hongjoong freezing to death and Seonghwa will forever be frozen in time.

Only then did Seonghwa's eyes fully open. His once brown eyes now ice blue and lifeless as they stared deeply in to Hongjoong's that were about to give up.

The younger smiles weakly, proud to take a last glimpse of his lover before his body gives up on him. Seonghwa's white hair played along with the wind as his face formed snowflakes and hair frosting.

Hongjoong reached his hand to touch his face and how he would regret it after. His fingertips started to turn blue, freezing all the way to his wrist. His whole hand frozen. Now he can't even touch Seonghwa without turning to an ice statue.

"Hongjoong." Seonghwa's tender and musical voice called out to him.

But Hongjoong's body completely gave out and collapsed on the cold snow ground. Fainting from the intense coldness his body suffered for god knows how long.
