Seonghwa

After what seemed like forever, Seonghwa stormed inside Hongjoong's room where everyone else was trying to create more warmth for Hongjoong's worse state.

He continued to shiver in the bed, bundled up in thick blankets by the fireplace. His skin started to turn blue and frozen, now spreading across his face.

If Seonghwa had stayed down longer he wouldn't have enough time left before Hongjoong turned to an ice statue.

"Joong.." Seonghwa panted, running directly to the bed. He made him sit up so he could slip inside the bundled comforters and hug him tightly.

Their jaws were left hung open when they noticed Seonghwa's appearance had changed. He wasn't a winter spirit anymore. Seonghwa was human again.

"Hwa.." Hongjoong shivered mentioning his name.

"It's alright, I'm here.. I'm here to save you." he reassuringly whispers, he placed his hand on Hongjoong's frozen heart area, watching it light up to the color of dark blue.

Only for the ice on his face spread faster, now covering his entire face. Seonghwa began to be terrified.

Hongjoong smiled at him, "I love you, hwa." his eyes closed.

"No no no this wasn't supposed to happen!" he proceeded to use all of his strength to melt the ice off of him but it didn't seem to work. "Hongjoong!"

His heart dropped to his stomach when Hongjoong stopped moving, his heart no longer beating.

Seonghwa came too late.

The curse already got him.

Hongjoong turned to an ice statue.

Maybe there was no cure for it after all, his powers couldn't save him.

"No no no no! Hongjoong!" Seonghwa's eyes brimmed with tears as he cupped his cold and frozen cheeks. He looked lifeless.

He was human again but at what cost? He lost Hongjoong.

Life had no meaning without him. What is he supposed to do now?

"Hongjoong.." a tear rolled down his eyes, he couldn't help but hug his frozen body for one last time. "This is not fair.."

Light gasps were heard from behind him, the others covered their mouths in shock. Neither could they believe that Hongjoong was gone. They can't bring themselves to accept it just like Seonghwa.

Wooyoung sat down beside him to side hug Seonghwa, "Hwa, please.."

"No! He's still alive, I know it!" Seonghwa cried louder, breaking Wooyoung's heart. He sounded so broken they couldn't help but cry together.

"Shh~" Wooyoung comforted him but he refused to let go of his lover.

"It's all my fault.. now I lost my only love. woo, what am I supposed to do now? I can't live without him.." he tightly closed his eyes, his head buried in Hongjoong's shoulder.

"It's not your fault.. he knows you tried your best." Wooyoung silently cried beside him.

Tears after tears landed on the ice statue he was hugging, one tear specifically landed on his heart area. "I love you too.." he says in a small voice.

The hand that was still on his heart suddenly lit up to the color of yellow. Warmth started to fill Hongjoong until the ice from his body started to melt and turn into water, soaking the sheets. Seonghwa pulls himself away out of surprise.

They all gasp in anticipation at what was happening. Wooyoung stood up to back away as Seonghwa stayed in his place. Watching closely how he startes to melt.

Hongjoong's eyes fluttered open but surprisingly he still looked the same. Except that his hair stayed the same color, half black and half white and so did his blue eye. But his skin color wasn't snow pale anymore like before, he looked very human now.

"Hongjoong..?" Seonghwa called out softly, meeting his eyes.

The younger smiled his way, "Hello, darling."

Seonghwa cried out of pure happiness, clinging his arms around him almost immediately. He couldn't help but cry against his body. Feeling si relieved than ever.

"You're back.." he breathed happily, his heart not feeling so heavy anymore.

Hongjoong pulls him away from the hug for a second, "You saved me." he smiles widely.

Seonghwa laughed lightly, he wraps his arms around his neck and shamelessly pulled him in for a short kiss that lasted only for a bit.

After they parted, Seonghwa cupped Hongjoong's cheeks. The moment he touched his face, his appearance started to change.

The younger's blue eye had disappeared, his black hair came back and his face suddenly matured. Seonghwa was surprised by his ability.

"You made it, you broke the curse." his Father's voice says from the doorframe, "Both curses."

Seonghwa's face lit up, "I broke Mother's curse?"

"Yes, if the change in his face is anything to go by." the older man smiled widely, "You managed to save him from turning to an ice statue, and even broke the youthness curse."

"No wonder we look the same age now." he cracked with a small laugh.

Hongjoong on the other hand was shocked to see who was speaking from afar, "Captain Fredel.." he looked anxious because of what had happened decades ago.

"Don't sweat it buddy, you're an exception now. Welcome to the family." he gave him a reassuring smile.

"What does he mean by that?" Hongjoong frowned at Seonghwa.

"You're part of the family now, ofcourse."

Captain Fredel chuckled, "What ever makes my boy happy."

"It's so good to have you back, buddy." Mingi was the first to jump in and give Hongjoong the biggest hug he's ever received.

The others started copying him, until it turned to a large group hug with their friend circle.

Seonghwa has never felt so complete again in three years, he has been so grateful for them ever since, worda can't explain how happy he is with them as his new family.

"Where's Jisung?" Wooyoung suddenly asked.

The taller chuckled to himself, "He's in a good place now, together with his lover."

Maybe things do get better.
