The group sat in stunned silence, processing the gravity of what they'd just learned. Chris, the shadow that had been looming over them, wasn't just some distant figure from their past—he was someone who had once been part of them.
But something had twisted him. The rejection, the bitterness—it had consumed him, driving him to a point where he could no longer be part of their world.
Yoongi clenched his fists, his thoughts racing. He wasn't usually the type to dwell on the past, but knowing that Chris had once been so close to him in the past made everything feel far too personal.
"How are we supposed to fight something like this?" he muttered, his voice low. "It's like we're being played with."
Hoseok, sitting beside him, rubbed his temples, feeling the weight of everything closing in. The suggestion to stay in pairs wasn't lost on him, but it made him anxious. They were being forced to play by, and they couldn't even trust anyone now.
"We're supposed to just sit around and wait? What if he comes for one of us?" Hoseok's voice wavered, betraying the fear he was trying so hard to suppress. He hated feeling helpless, hated the idea that someone was out there, controlling their fate.
Namjoon stood up and began pacing, his mind running a million miles a minute. "We'll have to be smart about this," he said, trying to take control of the situation. "If we can't confront him directly, we have to figure out his pattern. He's playing with us, using our past lives as leverage. If we're going to stop him, we need to figure out why he's doing this now and not before."
Jin, who had been quietly staring at the group photo still pulled up on the laptop screen, finally spoke up. "If we stay in pairs there is a possibility that he comes after us when we are alone so it's much easier to make contact again, and if whatever the person from chatroom said was correct then he will only appear when we are alone and vulnerable.
Yoongi had been uncharacteristically quiet, his usually calm demeanor replaced by an unsettling anxiety. He stared at the group photo on the screen, as if hoping the answers would reveal themselves through the pixels. "He wants us to feel what he felt. He wants us to be isolated, alone. That's why he doesn't want us together. He's trying to break us apart."
Hoseok's eyes darted to Yoongi, the worry evident on his face. "We can't let that happen. If we start turning on each other, he wins."
Yoongi, sensing Hoseok's anxiety, placed a hand on his shoulder. "We won't let that happen," he reassured him, though his own voice held a trace of uncertainty.
Namjoon stopped pacing and turned to the group, his voice steady but tinged with urgency. "We need to stick to the plan. No one stays alone. We'll stay in pairs, we will inform the younger ones tomorrow morning itself and make the move, and if anything—anything—strange happens, we communicate immediately. We don't let him corner us. We stay connected."
The thought of splitting up sent a shiver down Jin spine, but he masked it with a determined look. "We're going to stop him, right?" he asked, his voice holding a slight tremor.
Namjoon looked at him, a flicker of doubt crossing his features before he quickly replaced it with the confidence the group needed. "We will. We have to but for now let's think about the pairs."
