I let out a small whimper as I closed my eyes. At this rate I was going to miss it! I was so freaking close! Memories began to flash through my mind.I remembered Terry's laugh. The way he'd playfully gloat that no one could job as high as he did. For a moment I could see him there, with me, jumping as Theo sat and read a book nearby.
It was then my back hit the trampoline. The force sent me bouncing high and trying to catch my balance. I did it. I hit the center.
"HA! Take that Terry" my celebration was too short lived. My face fell. I... hoped they were okay...I balled my fists before looking around the game station. I was starting to feel more determined as I jumped off the trampoline and headed to Musical memory. This wasn't just about Sam.... I needed to know what happened to Theodore and Terry. My chest seemed heavier at the thought that they could have been hurt. It may have been years but those two were my best friends.
The musical memory room was dark as I went under the intimidating arc. As I entered a light turned on in the distance revealing a room for spectators. In the room mommy long legs was working to turn the game on.
Soon a large screen with bright colors blared in front of me giving the instructions from the game. It was simple. The screen would give me a color, and I'd need to press that color. As the game progresses I'd have to keep up as the game colors while remembering more and in faster succession. Bright buttons of four colors rose from the floor. It seemed self explanatory.
Even so, I was never good at memory games. I could feel my muscles tense. Why did this feel so sinister? I hardly remembered my time here but the feeling of helplessness and absolutely fear I did remember.
I had this feeling... I was being watched.
I turned to mommy. "Oh isn't it amazing? Mommy hasn't seen the place up and running in years. "
Why did she talk like that... Was this a way of embracing the toy she mirrored?
"Mommy can almost imagine how excited Bunzo must be."My eyes widened as I felt my heart thump loudly against my chest. Bunzo the bunny...
My eyes shot above me as fast as I could to see the familiar rabbit clashing his symbols. I backed away a little. Now I remembered...I.... I didn't know how I had forgotten this. I gulped.
"It's been such a long time since he's been able to play."
I had even seen him in the instruction video but it hadn't registered. Everytime I missed a sequence he used to come down faster from the ceiling toward me."cheer..."
CRASH! CRASH!
How was I going to be able to focus with that! My steps quickened. There were no regulations, no rules now. If he had reached me and decided to crash those symbols with my head inside-
"To eat." Mommy finished.
I stared back at her looking at the exits. Closed, shut.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
My breath was shaky. Why were these toys so bent on killing me?
"Oh that's the dinner bell!" Mommy agreed.
W-Wait!
"Red. Red"
Already? It was starting already?! I looked around for the red button and pressed it as fast as I could.
"Red Red Blue"
I pressed the buttons accordingly. It was hard to hear the colors with Bunzo constantly clashing his symbols. I had to stare at the screen to be certain- all while hearing him come closer every second that I wasn't pressing a button.
