Dogday took deep breaths his face pressing against the TV. He tiredly lifted a hand as if to tell me to stop talking.
I could hear his rough breaths muffled as he tried to ignore the agony.
I sniffled as I tried to get myself together. Even if I didn't apologize audibly my lips still made the motions, unable to stop like some sort of broken record player.
He slowly lifted his head, his eyes tired as they looked up at me. He looked to the wall on the right, then the left, before pulling as back as he could to glance at the hall catnap had left from. I could hear him grunt and tense up as he pulled himself away from the TV set.
He then turned back to face me once the coast was clear.
His face looked squished. His big wide smile was still present, but it looked like he was putting effort to keep his smile thinner.
I sniffled trying to peer through my blurry vision. Stupid tears-
Dogday grunted as he pressed and pushed the cart with his chest. The cart moved a few inches before he wheezed and fell back on the TV set weakly.
"DD... you need rest." I croaked
I heard a huff. He shook his head slowly before looking to the side. It was hard to catch but I heard a click as his mouth began to open up into its usual gap.
Whimpering was something i hadn't expected to hear as a small purple arm pushed out of his mouth.
What?
I leaned forward, my brows furrowing. What was i looking at?
The arm wiggled as it pushed into view as more of its head got further pressed into view. It got stuck for a moment but the rest of its head pushed through, it's eye nearly falling on the floor. It twisted and shifted until it completely fell from dogday's mouth onto the floor.
I heard dogday give a loud exhale, his panting and pain finally becoming audible.
The mini critter looked more like a mess of blood and cotton than an actual plush. I kept trying to blink away tears as I noticed small chunks of purple thread keeping the cotton from becoming a blobby mess.
The critter looked around towards dogday then at me. Dogday put a thumbs up towards me as if to signal that everything was okay.
As the creature shuffled closer to me I found that hard to believe. The closer it came the more glimpses of purple fabric I found.
"If that's a fucking catnap I-"
"Easy, Angel..." Dogday groaned. The critter stopped in front of me, too far for me to kick. That thing was such a mess if it came just an inch closer i could-
It trembled with a small whimper looking back at dogday who gestured weakly for it to continue.
It was afraid of me.
"Terry-" i hissed. "I don't like this."
I tried to sound angry but even my voice sounded weak. I relaxed lowering my head. I wasn't mad at the mini critter- even if those little freaks had tried to eat me and dogday alive. This one was hesitant. He looked more afraid of me than I was of it.
It was that purple fabric I hated. Those stupid little cat ears that made me want to tear it to shreds. There was something primal that threatened to rise up.
It was something so angry and violent that it made me shudder. This wasn't me.
I took a sharp breath and sighed. "Sorry..." I whispered as my body relaxed to a more welcoming posture.
