chapter nine

when we arrived at school, jungwon and sunoo caught up to us.

"how was yesterday?" sunoo asked, grinning from ear to ear. just then, the others joined us. i felt sunghoon's presence near me and my limbs turned to jelly.

"what happened yesterday?" jay spoke.

"jake and i went to an amusement park, that's all." heeseung informed them.

"that's literally the perfect date idea! i give all my approval, heeseung," jungwon patted his shoulder with satisfaction. "my jakey only deserves the best." he pinched my cheeks but i slapped them away.

"ew, do not come near me."

"why, only heeseung is allowed to do that?" he teased. i flushed up in embarrassment.

"no one's allowed to! period."

"aren't i allowed, baby?" heeseung leaned it closer, our faces inches apart. i stared into his brown eyes and gulped.

"why are you acting like that?" i rolled my eyes.

"since when are they together?" sunghoon looked confused. probably since i just confessed to him only two days ago.

"we're not," heeseung said. "yet."

how i wanted to slap that pretty face of his. why was he acting so flirty all of a sudden?

when lunch rolled around, i tried to sit as far as possible from sunghoon as possible. i had to distance myself from him if i wanted to move on.

"what's with the awkward tension?" jay commented whilst picking at his food. "ew, why did they put broccoli on my plate?"

jungwon, who was sitting next to him, hit his arm and scolded him. "eat your veggies, jongseong."

"yes, mum," he grumbled. those two were getting closer by the day. their friendly date at jay's house turned out to be a success, apparently and he claimed that jay's food was amazing. he also mentioned that they were going to the cinema together, alone.

i was quite jealous of their relationship, to be honest. i wondered that if sunghoon hadn't rejected me, we might've been like them too. that made me lose my appetite.

"someone get me outta here," ni-ki glanced towards each of us. "everyone's acting weird. and i know jake and sunghoon are involved."

silence ensued.

"hello? are you guys that much older than me that you've lost your hearing already?" ni-ki waved his hand dramatically. "you clearly didn't eat your vitamins when you were my age."

"nothing happened, ni-ki. keep eating your food," heeseung stated.

"that's not fair. you guys keep everything from me!"

"trust me, i don't know anything either," jay ruffled his hair, earning a complaint from the younger.

"please tell me, hyungs! i need to know."

"you know curiousity killed the cat, right?" sunoo eyed him.

"well at least i'll die knowing what happened! now, spill."
