"jake! we're going home now," a voice called from the other room.

i jumped and scrambled back on the couch. i quickly got up and mumbled a quick 'bye' to heeseung before running out as fast as i could. when i got in the car, i exhaled a shaky breath. what just happened?

i tried not to think too much of it for the rest of the day and figured i should probably start revising so i could prepare myself when i got back to school.

the last day of spring break finally rolled around and since i had nothing better to do, i decided to take layla out for a walk at the park. she was right beside me when i suddenly bumped into someone.

"shit, sorry," i bowed, apologising profusely. i looked up to see a male figure who looked like he could be a model. i sucked in a breath; he was in most of my classes coincidentally.

"no need to apologise," a deep voice chuckled. "i'm felix." he held out his hand i shook it firmly.

"you're in some of my classes," i responded with a kind smile. he seemed like a nice person.

felix invited me to a bakery just around the corner and i hesitantly agreed. hopefully he wouldn't kidnap me. turns out, the day had been much more fun than i initially thought and i enjoyed my time with him.

we chatted for about an hour and i learnt a lot of cool things about felix. it was a pleasant surprise that we were both from australia and we somehow bonded over that, recounting childhood snacks and games from my hometown. i was glad to have someone else relate to me this well.

we exchanged phone numbers by the end of the day and agreed to be friends and hang out more often. i walked home with layla sleeping in my arms peacefully.

the first few weeks of school was pretty average - i still hung out with my friend group of course, but still made time for felix. we would usually partner up and talk during our classes together.

"i'm going to go catch up with felix at the library," i let the group know and rushed off to find my new friend. he was waiting with two cups of coffee and a huge grin on his face, waving me over.

i sat down across from him and greeted him cheerfully. "thanks for the coffee."

he threw me a thumbs up. we were studying for our chemistry project together but we hardly got any work done, with felix spewing out random things and distracting me. by the time we were finished, it was past dinner.

"it's already 8pm," i blurted in surprise.

"already? we haven't had dinner yet," felix said. "wanna have dinner with me?"

i was about to answer when my phone started ringing. i excused myself and took the call, bringing it up to my ear.

"heeseung?" i asked.

"where are you?" heeseung replied gruffly through the speaker.

"uh, i just finished my class project with felix," i explained.
