Tw: mentions of implied sexual harassment (fuck you Miller)
-And when I felt like I was an old cardigan, under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite.
Vada and Cc had begun to grow closer and closer. It was starting to piss Cairo off. Who did this girl think she was waltzing into their life screwing up their routines? The brunette didn't know what Cc saw in her. She was mediocre at most. Trashy sense of fashion, average intelligence, terrible sense of humor, and no interesting personality traits what so ever.
"Hey C! You up for eating lunch in the football field today?" Vada asked chipper.
"Hell yeah! I'd love that." A light blush crept up onto her face.
Cairo had asked the blonde to eat with her in the library three days prior. Did she seriously forget about their plans that quickly? Or was this yet another way for Cc to 'show kindness' to the new girl.
"Cc, we made plans to eat in the library. Did we not?" Cairo said with fire burning in her eyes. Her voice bit like a viper sticking its fangs into its pray.
Vada looked between the two, caught in the middle of what felt like battlegrounds. She hesitated, unsure of how to defuse the growing tension, but figured it would be best for Cc and Cairo to sort this out themselves. It was their business after all.
Cc glanced between Vada and Cairo, feeling torn but refusing to be the cause of animosity. "Um, Cairo, I'm really sorry—I totally spaced. Could we maybe reschedule for tomorrow?"
The fire that was roaring in the brunettes veins only grew stronger at those words. Of course she'd have to sacrifice HER time with HER best friend for some girl that just popped into their life. It's not like Cc knew that much about the girl anyways. Cairo didn't understand why Cc was choosing Vada over her.
"Wow. Fucking typical of you. Fine go run off and eat lunch with your little side piece." Vada winced at the harsh words coming from Cairo, wishing she could melt into the background and disappear.
"I didn't mean it like that," Cc muttered, guilt slicing through her like a knife. "Can we just talk about this later?" she pleaded, hoping to diffuse the situation.
"No. Clearly you have other priorities now," Cairo spat, crossing her arms and glaring at Cc. A heavy silence settled over them, each moment stretching painfully.
Cc gave a weak nod before walking past Cairo, looking back over her shoulder for one last glance at the girl before walking away.
————————
I'm gonna kill her. There's no other option, she's just gotta die.
Cairo thought as she glanced to her left seeing Vada doodle all over CC's hands. It was a simple gesture that could be completely platonic, but it irked Cairos nerves. Both Cc and Vada had gotten even closer over the past couple of weeks causing Cairo to get less attention from the blonde. It didn't help that Cairo's little display about lunch had made Cc rather upset with her. The blonde would only say what she had to with Cairo. She wasn't used to this at all and it was starting to make her feel like that lonely little girl in Tennessee.
What Cairo had expected to be a few weeks of putting their plan into motion, turned into a few weeks of Cc being infatuated with a different version of Cairo. She hated this. Watching someone you love more than life itself being infatuated with someone who just misses the mark of who you are had paid its toll on the brunette. Cairo didn't think Cc falling for another person would hurt as bad as it does.
She couldn't figure out what Vada had that she didn't. Why couldn't Cc fall for her instead?
Love comes in all colors shapes and sizes, much like a kaleidoscope. Cairo knew this, yet she just wanted Cc to look through that kaleidoscope of love and see her own shapes and colors. It shattered her to no repair to see the one person that has shown her how to love again, fall in love with someone that wasn't her.
