for some reason, wooyoung found himself struggling to come to terms with the whirlwind of complications and revelations that had just been dropped on him.

he sat on his bed, criss-crossed, hugging his pillow to his chest. rocking back and forth, he couldn't help but wonder when—or if—this nightmare would ever end. he wasn't even sure why he was so shocked and disheartened by the situation. objectively, the revelation that the girl san had been all touchy-feely with at the library was yoona was great news—for san, at least. this meant that san wasn't the morally compromised jerk people had momentarily pegged him to be. once the truth got out, san's reputation would be restored, and everyone would root for the couple like they were a k-drama's golden pair. hooray for romance!

but somewhere along the way, wooyoung had allowed himself to get confused—curious even.

curious about what exactly?

that part was still fuzzy. all he knew was that a carton of mango juice, a croissant, and a startling amount of uninvited proximity had muddled his brain beyond repair. maybe it was because, somehow, in a moment of delusional thinking, he'd convinced himself that something sweet, something akin to a friendship was forming between him and san. and if that were the case—if this bizarre bond really had been growing—then yoona had nothing to do with it.

besides, why would a friendship between him and san even happen?

wooyoung knew better. it was his fault for daydreaming about that nonsense. san wasn't exactly offering warm hugs and heart-to-heart talks. every time they crossed paths, san would pull some ridiculous prank, hurl an insult, or just be so uninterested that it could put an insomniac to sleep.

maybe it was something else entirely.

maybe the real issue was that now, with yoona in the picture, wooyoung felt like he needed to put an end to whatever curiosity had taken root in his mind.

as gossip queen had warned: curiosity was dangerous. even when it came to unbearable people like choi san. he really needed to stop being curious—curious about why san spent so many nights out instead of going to bed like a normal person, curious about whether san did nice things out of kindness or just courtesy, and curious about whether san's relentless habit of annoying wooyoung was driven by genuine dislike.

and san's mysterious nights out— wooyoung had initially assumed san was just spending all his nights at a gaming café. but no, san had apparently been clubbing. clubbing!

with a long, frustrated sigh, wooyoung buried his face in the pillow, trying to smother his confusion. at least one thing was clear: his friends hadn't lied to him. the misunderstanding had been purely idiotic, not malicious. hongjoong and jongho had just been their usual air-headed selves. stupidity, wooyoung thought, was far more forgivable than betrayal.

"so, what are you going to do now?" yeosang asked, sitting on the edge of wooyoung's bed, his voice breaking through the tense silence. wooyoung looked up, feeling the weight of the question already settling on his shoulders.
