maybe he should've kissed him.

that was the only thought running through wooyoung's mind as he lay in bed, hugging his pillow to his chest, eyes fixed on the ceiling late on a weekend afternoon.

"honestly, i think one of us should just go and talk to her," said yeosang, sitting at wooyoung's desk. "if we keep fixating on the fact that she's connected to the gossip queen, we'll never make progress. look at us."

how could san claim wooyoung was 'easy to read'?

wooyoung chewed his bottom lip. if he were really that easy to read, san would've caught on as soon as his feelings started to develop, as soon as they'd started to brim.

or maybe he already knew and was just enjoying this new way of toying with him.

but then again, there was no way san knew. if he did, he'd go crazy— and not in a good way.

"you have a point, but it's not as easy as it seems," jina hummed. it was a mystery how she kept sneaking into the boys' dorm without getting caught.

she sat on the edge of yeosang's bed, one leg elegantly crossed over the other as she flipped through a book on his bedside table. "if the gossip queen finds out we're onto her, she'll do everything she can to stop us."

it was hard to say how much longer wooyoung could hold it together.

ever since he'd decided to put a name to his feelings— it was a crush (probably a big one)— he'd developed an automatic habit of turning his desires into words, and his words into actions. this closeness between him and san, which seemed to increase every time they were together, was bad news for wooyoung. what if he actually kissed san?

and what if san filed a complaint for harassment, and wooyoung's only excuse was, 'he just looked so handsome in the light, with the wind in his hair! he was so handsome and so close, i couldn't help myself!'

ridiculous.

"yeah," jongho nodded enthusiastically, eyes wide with fear because he had a habit of agreeing with everything jina said— as did everyone else, since she was on par with yeosang in terms of eloquence and intelligence. "what if she starts a rumour about one of us? we'd be destroyed!"

why was san incapable of describing him nicely? why did it always have to be a word so random, so uncertain, something that made wooyoung question whether it was a compliment or an insult?

words like 'odd' and 'simple'— they didn't sound like compliments. not one bit!

if only san could be as straightforward as wooyoung, if only he lacked so much depth, enough to call someone handsome to their face every single time—

"wooyoung."

yeosang's sharp voice cut through his thoughts, bringing his attention to the boy glaring at him.
