wooyoung was, for the first time, wondering if he'd been a little too straightforward.

as he sat there in the library, cramped up in one of those small, quiet cubicles, a lot of things were going through his mind. firstly, his words from the day before were haunting him.

san was good-looking, and of course wooyoung had noticed his handsomeness—but was there really a need to say it out loud in that situation?!

normally, wooyoung wouldn't mind reminding san of how attractive he was, but last night wasn't a normal night. something in the air had been different, at least for wooyoung, whose emotions had swirled so much, it felt like they were clinging to his clothes.

he replayed everything, over and over again—san's hand in his hair, the sound of his quiet laugh, the way his eyes crinkled, and those obscure words.

every time something like this happened—every time wooyoung felt like it was 'too late' for him—he never delayed getting his thoughts out, before it actually was too late. hence, a dozen love letters written to crushes that lasted a week, and a dozen chocolates for hallway heartthrobs—but this felt different. this was different.

somewhere, like the glass dividers separating one cubicle from another, there seemed to be a rift between him and san, a tangible force keeping them apart. maybe it was all in his mind. maybe it was the realisation that whatever this feeling was, there was no need to fully explore it, because it was already too late. literally.

san already had feelings for someone else. and though wooyoung had downplayed everything, putting san on the same level as his high school crushes and hallway heartthrobs, a part of him—the part that wasn't in denial—acknowledged that this and that were not the same.

this was worse, because san was someone he wasn't supposed to like in that way. besides, their relationship was unique—meant to last for a specific time, and it would end once wooyoung completed the task he'd been assigned.

he groaned, crossing his arms over the desk and dropping his head onto them. this kind of overthinking wasn't made for someone like him.

especially because it had him making up stupid excuses and explanations to soothe his restless mind.

maybe this was san's idea of revenge? maybe he was really that sick and twisted—

"oreo," a voice—one that belonged to the person plaguing his thoughts—interrupted his overthinking, causing his eyes, which had been squeezed shut, to shoot open. "what are you doing?"

thinking about what makes you so special, of course.

wooyoung sat up straight, glaring at san, only to be momentarily stunned by how close san was, probably because san had leaned in to double-check who he was. "why are you everywhere?!"
