"Hello, babe! I'm waiting at the school gate. Come fast!" I said, smiling as I spoke into the phone.

"Yeah, babe, I'm almost there," Rowan's familiar voice reassured me.

As the call ended, I stood just outside the school gate, the spring air wrapping around me like a soft blanket. The sun shone warmly, its golden rays playing on the sidewalk. Birds chirped cheerfully in the trees, and the road in front of me was covered in delicate pink petals, scattered by the breeze. It was one of those rare, perfect moments—everything looked so beautiful and romantic. I couldn't help but smile as I waited for Rowan to come back with our ice creams.

We had been together for a few months now, and every time I thought about him, my heart fluttered. I loved him. Truly, deeply.

I spotted him across the street, holding two ice cream cones in his hands, his carefree smile lighting up his face. I waved, and he waved back, his eyes sparkling as he started running toward me.

But then, in an instant, everything shattered.

A car came out of nowhere, speeding down the road. My heart dropped into my stomach, my breath catching in my throat.

"Nooo!" I screamed, but it was too late.

The sound of the crash was deafening. My body froze as I watched the car slam into Rowan, sending him crashing to the pavement. Ice cream cones flew from his hands, and for a second, all I could see was red. His white uniform was now drenched in blood—a deep, terrifying crimson.

I ran to him, my legs barely able to hold me up. I collapsed at his side, my hands trembling as I pressed them against his chest. His breathing... it wasn't there. It was gone. My tears fell in torrents, soaking his already blood-stained clothes.

"Please, Rowan... please, no," I sobbed, laying my head on his chest, desperate to hear the familiar beat of his heart.

But just as I pulled back to look at him, everything around me froze. The world stopped.

The man who had been running toward us was suspended mid-step. An old lady, her face twisted in shock, stood frozen in time. Even the ambulance that I could see in the distance was caught in motionless silence. Apples that had fallen from a nearby cart hung in mid-air, as if gravity no longer existed.

I slowly stood up, trying to comprehend what was happening. My heart raced, but the world around me remained eerily still. I took a step forward, but suddenly, the ground beneath me shifted. It was like the earth itself had turned into water. I gasped as I felt myself falling, drowning in the darkness that swallowed me whole.

I couldn't breathe. The weight of it pressed down on my chest. I struggled, but the more I fought, the deeper I sank.

I closed my eyes, feeling my heart break, the pain overwhelming everything. All I could feel was the ache, the crushing sorrow. Then, there was nothing.
