Sophia quickly changed into a casual outfit—a white t-shirt, denim shorts, and her favorite Nike shoes. She wasn't planning to dress up for a casual night in, but she still wanted to look presentable. She grabbed her keys and drove to Aaron's place.
When she rang the doorbell, she wasn't prepared for the sight that greeted her. Aaron opened the door, shirtless, with his hair damp, a towel draped over his shoulder, and only grey cotton track pants hanging low on his hips. Sophia's breath caught in her throat. His toned, muscular frame looked like something out of a movie—his abs, his broad chest, and the way the light hit his skin...
She couldn't help but stare.
"You're staring," Aaron whispered, smirking down at her.
Sophia blinked, feeling the heat rise to her cheeks. "Well, I... you're the one who's shirtless!" she stammered, quickly looking away.
Aaron chuckled, running a hand through his damp hair. "Ah, sorry about that. Hold on, I'll grab a shirt."
He disappeared for a moment and returned, pulling on a fitted black t-shirt that did little to hide the outline of his chest. "Sorry to keep you waiting. Come in."
She followed him inside, still a bit flustered from the earlier sight. They headed to the dining area, where Aaron had set out some drinks. He poured them both a glass, and they clinked their glasses together.
"To lightening up," Aaron teased.
Sophia laughed and took a sip. "I'm not that easy to get drunk," she said, downing the glass confidently.
Aaron watched her, his eyes softening as she continued drinking. "Soph, you might want to slow down..."
"Nah, I'm fine," she said, already feeling a bit lighter, her words beginning to slur slightly. She poured herself another glass, mumbling something about her father. Then, without thinking, she blurted out, "He even asked me about my love life... like, seriously, Dad?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Your love life?"
"Yeah," she sighed dramatically. "I think I need to find a boyfriend."
Aaron's heart sank at her words. The thought of her with someone else made his chest tighten. He tried to mask his disappointment with a smile. "Can't I be that someone?"
Sophia blinked, surprised. "What?" She chuckled nervously, unsure if he was joking.
Aaron kept his gaze steady. "Your boyfriend."
Her cheeks flushed. She laughed and quickly hid her face in her palms, trying to hide her shy smile. This was unexpected.
Aaron stood up, grabbing something from the counter, but before he could turn, he heard her call out softly, "Aaron..."
He turned around to see her standing, swaying slightly as she approached him. "You didn't... listen to me yet," she said, her voice softer now. "I think... I might like you... like maybe, okay? How about we find out if I do?"
