Aaron walked in, holding a bouquet of red roses in one hand and a small gift box in the other, a box of chocolates tucked under his arm. I wasn't sure if it was the soft lighting or just the way he carried himself, but he looked... amazing. His sweater fit him perfectly, emphasizing his broad shoulders, and he looked so effortlessly charming. He was scanning the room, looking for me, and the moment our eyes met, a smile spread across his face. He waved and started walking toward me, his excitement radiating through every step.

I stood up from my seat as he approached, ready to help him with everything he was carrying. I had planned to greet him formally, but instead, the first thing he did was hand me the bouquet. "It's for you," he said with a warm smile.

I blinked, surprised. For me? I thought, feeling a small flutter in my chest. I took the roses, my fingers brushing against his as I accepted them. "Thank you," I said, my voice softer than usual, a smile creeping onto my face. I placed the bouquet aside carefully, trying to hide the blush spreading across my cheeks. But before I could sit down, Aaron handed me the gift box and the chocolates too.

Another bright smile escaped me, and I couldn't help but show off my white teeth as I laughed softly. "Aaron, I was treating you tonight," I said, teasing him slightly, though my cheeks were still warm. "You didn't have to bring all these for me."

He scratched the back of his neck, a shy smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Sophia, I wanted to apologize... for everything. Please accept it, okay?" His voice was serious, and when I glanced at him, I saw those puppy eyes I could never resist.

My heart softened, and I nodded, smiling at him once more. He looked so relieved, his smile returning, lighting up his entire face. He was practically beaming with joy as he asked, "So... are we good now? Are we back to how we were at the beginning in high school?"

I nodded again, but deep down, I knew I wanted more than what we had back then. I wanted something deeper, something real.

We sat down, Aaron moving my chair for me with a smooth gesture before quickly settling into his seat across from me. His smile never left his face, and it had this infectious quality that made it impossible for me not to smile back. we had some small talks and I felt warm and comfortable around him.

As soon as we were seated, the waiter approached, handing us menus. I scanned the options, my mind barely focusing on the words. Aaron's presence across from me was hard to ignore. His leg brushed against mine under the table, and I glanced up, catching him smirking.

"Careful," he teased. "You might set something else on fire with that look."

I scoffed, pretending to be offended, but the warmth of my own grin gave me away. "Please, I was just deciding between the steak or the salmon. Not everything's about you, you know."

He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms, his expression mockingly serious. "If only that were true. But I have this sneaking suspicion you've been thinking about me."
