Chapter 42

After a few minutes, Gojo and Geto's vision started clearing as darkness completely banished around them. And it took them awhile before they managed to stand up.

"Do you think it's-" Geto stopped midway his sentence as he looks at Gojo in question and waits for his response.

Instead of answering, Gojo looked at the direction you ran off. This action was followed by Geto before they sprint hoping to answer their question.

Dashing past some trees, there in one of the tree branches. They saw a body hanging. As they walked closer, they noticed it was wearing the same clothes of their attackers, giving them the idea that it was the real assassin.

"He's still breathing." Geto said looking at Gojo after he checked the pulse.

"Can you sense her?" Geto added asking Gojo who stayed quiet as he surveyed the surroundings.

Gojo shook his head with a frown in his face. Before he noticed something on the tree.

The report of you killing the higher up was pierced on the tree with a blood mark X in the alleged photo of you.

"Is she going to be alright?" Geto asked looking at the report.

Gojo sighed. "Let's hope that she can handle herself. For now, let's go back. I have to give someone a piece of mind about what happened today."

Gojo turns around and pat Geto on his shoulder. Who continues looking at the report with furrowed eyebrows.

"I can still walk." You said tiredly to Choso, who was giving you a piggyback ride as he walked through a narrow alleyway.

Earlier ago, after the assassin fainted, because of fatigue your knees buckle, making you collapse on the ground, completely disabling your domain.

Then suddenly Choso appeared out of nowhere. Which surprised you as you just stared at him confused, while he helped you without a word. But not before using his technique to hang the assassin in a tree branch, and taking the report from you as he pierced it to the tree using a shuriken he picked up somewhere.

"You're already tired. You're just going to make us slow." Choso said plainly dismissing your protest.

You just sighed before speaking again.

"How did you even find me? And why are you here? I thought you don't want to work with me? You even lock yourself in your room."

Instead of answering, Choso just stayed completely silent, focusing on walking and seemingly ignoring your questions. While you continue trying to get his attention, your voice is tinged with mild frustration. You can feel the tension in the air, but Choso doesn't respond or even acknowledge your words.

After a while, you exhale in defeat, letting out a loud sigh. The warm breath hits Choso's neck unexpectedly, sending a shiver down his spine. He freezes for a moment, his body reacting involuntarily to the sensation. His grip on your legs tightens slightly, and he feels a wave of surprise at the sudden, intimate moment.

Choso finally breaks the silence, his voice low and almost unsteady.

"Don't... do that," he mutters, still not turning around but clearly affected by your presence now.

The air between you feels different, a mix of awkwardness and unspoken tension as you continue your journey.

"Choso where are we heading?" You asked after noticing the unfamiliar surroundings.

Before you can ask again a voice cut through the silence Choso was giving you.
