Two months later, it's time for Stephanie to join Five-O. She walks in the office for an "interview" with McGarrett so that nothing looks suspicious and Danny is in the room too. There's also a conversation between the three of them about what would happen if Stephanie would be compromised. Danny would get her off the island.
"Sounds like a great idea Steve. When exactly where you gonna tell me this?" Danny asks.
Steve nods his head and says, "Now."
"You guys, this is serious. I know you both like to joke around. But Danny, if Steve says you're supposed to get me off the island if I were to be compromised, then you should. It would only put me and Steve in danger if we left together."
"Makes sense," Danny replied. "Alright. Enough chit chat."
They get up and walk out of Steve's where Kono, Chin and Lou are waiting for them.
"Hey everyone, this is Stephanie. She'll be joing the team starting today. She used to be a firefighter in Utah but was severely injured trying to save a family and wanted to get away."
"Welcome to the team!" Kono says. She walks up to Stephanie and gives her a hug. Chin and Lou hug her too. Steve hands her a badge and she accepts it smiling. "Thank you. All of you for having me here. I appreciate it."

To celebrate, they all head to Kamekona's food truck for lunch. Everyone is sitting at the picnic table talking until Kamekona walks up and hand them their food. "Congratulations on joining Five-O," he says. "Free lunch for you all month sista."
"Aww. You're a sweetheart. Mahalo." Stephanie says.
Danny, looking puzzled and blinking his eyes, says. "Wait. She gets free food all month and we still have to pay? Are you insane? I thought we were friends?"
"We are friends. She's had a long recovery from getting injured at work. She deserves it. Want me to up the charge on your tab?"
"You're unbelievable! Steve doesn't pay for anything. He always 'forgets his wallet' every single time." Meanwhile, Kono, Chin, Lou and Stephanie are laughing at them while Steve looks confused.
Danny and Steve start arguing as they always do. "You got anything else you wanna say Danny? I'm just curious. You've insulted me in from of everyone."
"I did not insult you. I specifically said that you purposely forget your damn wallet every single time we go anywhere! Do I need to explain it to you in a way that you'll understand?! What part of this conversation are you not understanding?"
Stephanie is laughing so hard she snorts. "I'm so sorry! You two are absolutely hilarious! Lunch and a comedy show!" Tears are coming out of her eyes as she continues to laugh which turns into hiccups.
"That's, that's adorable Stephanie. Anything else?" Danny asks. She looks at him and says, "Nope." Kamekona, looking annoyed, tells everyone to enjoy their lunch. Steve's phone rings . A body was discovered in a sewage drain.
The victim, male in his mid to late 30s has half of his body missing and badly burned. It's Stephanie's first day and she's seen a lot worse when she worked at the BAU. She was almost a victim herself. She remembers coding in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and it's something she can't stop thinking about but she needs to. She needs to focus.
"Looks really bad." Stephanie said.
Chin looks at her. "Have you seen victims like this where you worked?"
She nods. "I have. Some much worse than others. It looks like he wasn't just badly burned, more like he was killed by an explosion or something."
"She's right." Lou says. "We've got a piece of the device that may have killed him." Steve walks over and takes a look. "We need to get this to the lab and comb through the crime scene. Call the bomb squad and have them check out the building he was in before we go in there."
While they're waiting, Danny walks up to Stephanie, where nobody can hear them and asks if she's ok. "I'm good." She says. "I don't believe you. Something's obviously wrong. Could it be the case or something else?"
She turns to him and says, "Zach Pearson. I had another nightmare about him. This time he succeeded in killing me. I don't know Danny. I mean, it felt so real. The scar is pulling badly but I can't take my mind off it. Any ideas?"
"Maybe a therapist?" He replies. Stephanie shakes her head. "It won't do any good. I don't want to relive it." "How about talking to Steve. Ever thought of that?" She smiles at him. "I will." "Sounds great." Danny said. "Let me know how that goes."
"Alright! Let's move!" Steve yells. Once they're in position, HPD, SWAT and FIVE-O storm the building, covering each floor. There's 8 floors in the building and about 25 rooms along with a basement and garage. "Clear!" They say, one after the other. "The whole building is clear. Maybe he was killed somewhere else and brought here." Kono says. "Alright, let's get back and see if Max has identified our victim."
They go back to the palace and Steve and Kono go see Max and he's playing the piano. Moonlight Sonata. He doesn't turn around until he's done. "Ah. Steve. Kono. To what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Have you identified our victim?" Kono asks.
"I have. His name is Joshua Wright from New York. Apparently he suffered multiple injuries to his left shoulder. Probably from being tortured. As you can see, his shoulder appears to be dislocated and every bone in his left arm appears to be broken."
"Someone was interrogating him." Steve said. "Anything else Max?" "Yes. Please tell Stephanie I said welcome to Five-O. I'm excited to meet her." "I will buddy. If you find anything else don't hesitate to call me anytime." "I will commander."
As they leave the room, Kono tells Steve that she has a very bad feeling about the case and he agrees with her. With no leads for the investigation they all head home. Steve and Stephanie head outside to grill some steaks for their dinner.
Once dinner is finished and the table is cleared off, they turn on a horror movie. Bride of Chucky. About halfway through the movie, there's a loud explosion.
