Title: Under the Umbrella

It was one of those days where everything seemed to go wrong. You had overslept, spilled coffee on your favorite shirt, and now, just as you were about to make it to the bus stop, the sky decided to open up and drench the world in a torrential downpour. Naturally, you had forgotten your umbrella.

Cursing your luck, you ran to the nearest shelter, a small gazebo by the school's entrance. The rain was relentless, pounding the pavement and turning the world into a blur of gray. You were drenched, shivering slightly from the cold, when you noticed someone else already standing in the shelter.

Yoon Jeonghan

Of course, it had to be him.

He stood there with his back against one of the gazebo's pillars, a smug smile playing on his lips as he watched you approach. Jeonghan always had this way of looking effortlessly put together, even in the midst of a rainstorm. His uniform was dry, and in his hand was an umbrella, neatly folded and tucked under his arm.

"Let me guess," Jeonghan drawled, that familiar teasing tone already evident in his voice. "You forgot your umbrella again, didn't you?"

You huffed, trying to wring some of the water out of your soaked hair. "Maybe I just enjoy the rain, ever thought of that?"

Jeonghan chuckled, the sound light and melodic despite the thunder in the distance. "Sure, that's exactly why you're standing here shivering."

You glared at him, though the effect was somewhat diminished by the fact that you were dripping wet and likely looked like a drowned cat. "Why do you even care, Jeonghan? Shouldn't you be off somewhere, plotting how to one-up me in class tomorrow?"

He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by your retort. "Who says I haven't already done that? But for now, I'm just enjoying the sight of you getting soaked. It's quite the spectacle."

"Ugh, you're impossible," you muttered, crossing your arms over your chest. The rain showed no signs of letting up, and you really didn't want to stand there being the butt of Jeonghan's jokes any longer than necessary.

Jeonghan watched you for a moment, then sighed dramatically. "You know, I could offer to share my umbrella with you, but I'm not sure you deserve it after all that sass."

Your eyes narrowed. "Are you serious?"

"Maybe." His grin widened. "Depends on how nicely you ask."

You rolled your eyes, but deep down, you knew this was just the way things were between you and Jeonghan. You had known each other for years, ever since you both started at the same prestigious school. From day one, you had found yourselves in an unspoken rivalry-competing for the best grades, the top spots in extracurriculars, and even the attention of your mutual friends.

But it wasn't all bad. Despite the constant bickering, there was an underlying respect between you. Jeonghan might have been insufferable at times, but he was also intelligent, kind (when he wanted to be), and surprisingly fun to be around-when he wasn't teasing you, that is.

"Fine," you said, your voice dripping with mock exasperation. "Please, oh great Jeonghan, let me share your umbrella so I don't catch a cold."

Jeonghan chuckled again, clearly satisfied with your response. "Well, since you asked so nicely..." He unfolded the umbrella with a flourish, holding it out to you. "Come on, we can make a run for it together. I'll even let you walk on the side with less rain."

"Gee, thanks," you said, stepping closer and ducking under the umbrella. It was a tight fit, and you could feel the warmth of Jeonghan's arm brushing against yours as you huddled together. You tried not to think too much about it, focusing instead on the task at hand-getting out of the rain as quickly as possible.

As you started walking, Jeonghan couldn't resist another quip. "You know, for someone who's supposed to be so smart, you'd think you'd remember something as basic as an umbrella."

"Oh, shut up," you shot back, though there was no real bite in your words. "Not everyone has perfect memory like you."

"Perfect in more ways than one," he said, grinning cheekily.

You groaned. "Do you ever get tired of hearing yourself talk?"

"Not when it's this much fun."

Despite yourself, you found a small smile tugging at your lips. There was something oddly comforting about the banter, a rhythm you had grown accustomed to over the years. Even in a situation as ridiculous as this, Jeonghan's teasing somehow made things feel a little less chaotic.

As you walked, the conversation shifted, becoming more casual, almost... friendly.

"So, what are you working on for that art project?" Jeonghan asked, his tone still light but with genuine curiosity.

You glanced up at him, surprised by the question. "Just some sketches for now. I'm still trying to figure out the final concept."

He nodded thoughtfully. "You're really talented, you know. I mean, I'd never admit it out loud normally, but your last piece was impressive."

You blinked, caught off guard by the compliment. "Uh... thanks?"

"Don't let it go to your head," he added quickly, though there was a hint of a smile on his lips. "I'm just stating facts."

"Right," you said, but you couldn't help the warm feeling that spread through your chest. Maybe Jeonghan wasn't so bad after all.

As the rain finally began to let up, you reached the front gates of the school. You both stopped, the shelter of the umbrella no longer necessary. You stepped away, creating some space between the two of you, and for a moment, there was a silence that felt almost... comfortable.

"Well, I guess this is where we part ways," Jeonghan said, his usual smirk returning. "Try not to forget your umbrella next time."

You rolled your eyes, but there was no malice in it. "I'll keep that in mind, Jeonghan. And... thanks."

He winked at you, a gesture that was both infuriating and oddly charming. "Anytime."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving you standing there with a strange mix of emotions. As you watched him go, you realized that maybe,

just maybe, there was more to Jeonghan than the teasing and the rivalry.

Maybe, beneath all that, there was someone you could actually get along with.

But of course, you'd never let him know that. Not yet, anyway.
