Title: Hallway Argument

The school was alive with the usual hustle and bustle as students moved from one class to another, their voices blending into a chaotic symphony. DK, or Seokmin as you called him when you two were alone, was the heart of it all. He was the star student-academically sharp, athletically skilled, and the life of every event. Everyone loved DK for his bright smile, his goofy jokes, and the way he could make even the most tedious lecture seem bearable. And you? You were his best friend, the quiet girl who had somehow managed to capture the attention of the school's shining star.

You had been friends since middle school, back when he was just an awkward boy with braces and a penchant for getting into trouble. You were his study buddy, the one who helped him with math when he struggled and in turn, he brought laughter into your otherwise introverted world. Over the years, his clumsy charm evolved into something more polished. He became the school's darling, but in your eyes, he was still Seokmin, the boy who made you laugh until your sides hurt.

But lately, things had changed. What started as a simple crush had grown into something deeper, something that scared you. You couldn't stand by his side without your heart racing, without feeling that sting of jealousy when he smiled at other girls, even if it was harmless. So, you did what you thought was best-you started avoiding him. You skipped lunches, ducked into empty classrooms to avoid running into him in the hallways, and pretended to be busy with assignments. But, DK wasn't stupid. He noticed.

The final straw came one afternoon after class. You were gathering your books, hoping to slip away unnoticed, when you felt a presence loom over you. You looked up to see DK standing there, his usual smile replaced by a frown. His eyes were searching yours, looking for answers you weren't ready to give.

"Hey," he started, his voice unusually quiet. "Why are you avoiding me?"

You could feel your pulse quicken, your hands gripping the edge of your notebook to steady yourself. "I-I'm not avoiding you," you stammered, though even you didn't believe the lie.

DK's eyes darkened, a rare expression of frustration crossing his face. "Don't lie to me," he said, his voice louder this time, drawing the attention of a few passing students. "You've been dodging me for weeks. You think I wouldn't notice?"

You glanced around nervously. The hallway was starting to clear as people moved to their next classes, but a few onlookers lingered, curious about the rare sight of the ever-cheerful DK in a serious confrontation. "This isn't the place," you muttered, looking anywhere but at him.

"No," he insisted, blocking your path when you tried to walk away. "We're talking about this now."

There was a fire in his eyes that you hadn't seen before. Gone was the easy-going smile, replaced by an intensity that made your heart skip a beat. "Why, Seokmin?" you asked, your voice breaking slightly. "Why do you even care?"

His jaw clenched. "Because you're my best friend. Or at least you were. I don't know what we are now because you won't talk to me."

You could feel the tears starting to prick at the corners of your eyes. This was the last thing you wanted, a confrontation in the middle of the hallway, with DK looking at you like that-hurt, confused, and something else you couldn't quite place.

"You wouldn't understand," you whispered, trying to push past him again.

He grabbed your arm gently, preventing you from leaving. His voice softened, but there was a desperate edge to it. "Then make me understand. Because all I know is that one day, we were fine, and the next, you're acting like being around me is the worst thing in the world."

You stared at the ground, your resolve crumbling. He deserved the truth, but you were terrified of how it might change everything. "It's not that," you finally said, your voice barely audible. "It's just...it's too much, Seokmin."

He took a step closer, his eyes searching your face. "What's too much? Did I do something? Did I-" He hesitated, the next words almost choking him. "Did I hurt you?"

"No," you blurted out, the tears now flowing freely. "No, it's not you. It's me. I...I have feelings for you, okay?" The confession hung in the air, heavy and full of the unspoken truths you had buried for so long. "I like you more than just a friend," you continued, your voice shaking. "And being around you hurts because I know you don't feel the same way."

DK's eyes widened, his expression a mix of surprise and something else-something you couldn't quite read. "You think I don't feel the same?" he asked incredulously.

You bit your lip, nodding slightly. "You're DK," you said, as if it explained everything. "You're the guy everyone loves, the guy who can have anyone he wants. Why would you ever...why would you ever like someone like me?"

He stared at you, and for a moment, you worried you had said too much. But then, to your shock, he laughed-a short, disbelieving laugh that echoed through the now-empty hallway. "Are you serious?" he asked, taking your hands in his. "Do you really not see it? I've been in love with you for years."

Your heart stopped. "What?"

His grip on your hands tightened. "Yes, I'm DK, the cheerful guy who everyone thinks has it all together. But none of that matters to me if I don't have you by my side." He looked deeply into your eyes, his own filled with sincerity. "You're the reason I try so hard, you're the one who keeps me grounded. I didn't just want you as a friend. I've wanted you as something more for the longest time."

You felt like the ground had shifted beneath you. "But...but you never said anything," you managed to choke out.

He smiled then, that familiar, warm smile that melted your heart. "I was waiting for the right moment," he admitted. "But I guess I waited too long." He cupped your face gently, wiping away the tears with his thumbs. "I love you," he said simply. "I love you more than anything. And I thought I was showing it in my own way, but I didn't realize how much you needed to hear it."

You stared at him, your heart swelling with a mixture of relief, joy, and disbelief. "You...you really mean it?"

He nodded earnestly. "Every word. And I'm sorry it took me so long to say it."

The tension that had been building up for weeks suddenly dissolved, leaving behind only the warmth of his presence and the realization that he felt the same way. Without thinking, you threw your arms around his neck, pulling him into a tight hug. He held you close, his embrace strong and comforting.

"I'm sorry," you whispered against his shoulder. "I didn't mean to push you away."

He chuckled softly, resting his chin on top of your head. "I'll forgive you, on one condition."

You pulled back slightly to look at him. "What's that?"

"Promise me you'll never run away from me again," he said, his tone half-serious, half-teasing. "Because I'm not letting you go that easily."

You smiled, feeling the last of your doubts melt away. "I promise."

And in the middle of that hallway, with the world fading into the background, DK leaned in and kissed you, sealing the promise that had been left unspoken for far too long. It was the beginning of something new, something neither of you had words for yet, but both knew was worth every second of confusion and heartache.
