Part 22

Both of them went for dinner at night. The restaurant and bar was a happening place with live native music and cuisine. Virat asked for Sai's hand to dance. She said no but Virat pulled her to the dance floor. They danced with the local artists and enjoyed a lot. Sai was finally relaxed as she forgot about morning diving incident and again became that carefree and excited Sai. They were taking their night stroll at beach.

"I like this." Sai said after being quiet for a while.

"What? Maldives?Beaches?" Virat questioned.

"Ya, beaches but I was talking about this." She gestured towards their entwined hands.

"I mean us, walking hand in hand like this. Who thought, us, who were not even aware about each others' existence a few months ago will end up like this." Sai shared her thoughts.

"True. To be honest, I was on the verge of giving up on this whole marriage thing, I mean after meeting all those girls for marriage proposals before you...I don't know, I kinda started feeling that may be marriage was not my cup of tea." Virat chuckled remembering those meetings.

"Really? Why are you so cynical towards life?" Sai questioned.

"Life only taught me that. You know about my family history, right?" Virat replied without divulging much into details and Sai understood he doesn't like to talk about his mother. So she nodded understanding his sentiments.

"You call it cynicism but I call it practicality. I don't do emotions, they make people weak and vulnerable." Virat shared his thoughts further.

"Huh! Rubbish. In the morning, you showed your care for me. That is an emotion. Humans can't survive without it." Sai reasoned.

"Because its my responsibility to protect you. I understand I can't be robotic and completely eliminate feelings from my heart but I don't go into over indulgence." Virat clarified.

Sai chuckled a little, "your eyes and tongue contradict each other Mr. Chavan.

"What do you mean?" Virat questioned.

"I feel you say all sorts of things...you know to present yourself as this mean, practical, no nonsense guy but your eyes...oh these eyes, these pretty black pools of melancholy and longing...ah! They take my breath away each time I look into them; they say a completely different tale about what you are." Sai said with a dramatic sigh.

"You love drama, don't you?" Virat chuckled at her antics.

"Yes and you come across as those broody, intriguing heroes of Mills & Boons to me who are waiting to be rescued by their heroines and get an introduction of their true self." Sai showed off her knowledge of popular romance fiction books.
