Chapter 11
The girls were ecstatic as they left the festival venue, arms laden with trophies and certificates. They decided to celebrate at their favorite café, laughing and joking as they relived their wins.
Over plates of cake and pizza, they teased Baby about her Quran recitation skills, and Amrah about her AI project's potential to take over the world. Zeebu showed off her fashion designs, and Sophia shared her business plan's promising feedback.
As they celebrated, their phones buzzed with congratulatory texts from their parents. Amina's mom praised her debate skills, Amrah's dad boasted about her AI project, Baby's mom thanked her for representing their family well, Zeebu's parents admired her fashion talent, and Sophia's parents cheered her on for her business plan.
The girls beamed with pride, feeling loved and supported. They enjoyed the rest of their evening, basking in the joy of their accomplishments.
As the night wore on, the girls faced a small challenge: their university's strict dean threatened to cancel their favorite annual event, citing budget constraints. The girls vowed to fight for the event, determined to save it.
The girls left the café, still buzzing with excitement. As they walked across campus, they discussed their plan to save the annual event. They decided to meet up the next day to brainstorm ideas and come up with a strategy.
Amina walked home, feeling grateful for her friends and their shared victories. She couldn't wait to see what the future held for them.
The next day, the girls gathered in the library, determined to save their beloved event. They threw around ideas, from petitioning the dean to organizing a fundraiser.
As they brainstormed, Amina couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and purpose. She knew that together, they could overcome any obstacle.
But just as they were making progress, they received an email from the dean's office. Their hearts sank as they read the message...
"...the annual event has been officially cancelled due to budget constraints. We understand this may be disappointing, but we hope you will find other ways to engage with the university community."
The girls looked at each other, dismayed. All their brainstorming seemed for nothing.
"This can't be happening!" Zeebu exclaimed. "We have to do something!"
"I know," Amina said, determination in her voice. "Let's go talk to the dean. We can't just give up."
The others nodded in agreement. They quickly gathered their things and headed to the dean's office.
As they entered the office, they were greeted by the dean's stern expression. "I'm afraid my decision is final," she said.
But Amina stood tall, her voice clear. "We understand budget constraints, but this event means so much to us. Can't we find another way to make it work?"
The dean raised an eyebrow, seemingly impressed by Amina's boldness. "I'll tell you what," she said. "If you can come up with a viable plan to reduce costs, I'll consider reinstating the event."
The girls exchanged hopeful glances. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were willing to try...
The girls left the dean's office, determined to come up with a plan. They gathered in the library, brainstorming ideas and crunching numbers.
"We can reduce costs by having a smaller venue," Amrah suggested.
"And we can ask local businesses for sponsorships," Sophia added.
"I can help with marketing and promotion," Zeebu said. "We can use social media to reach a wider audience."
Baby nodded. "And I can help with fundraising. We can organize a bake sale or charity event."
Amina smiled, impressed by her friends' creativity. "These are all great ideas. Let's get to work!"
They spent the next few days working tirelessly to put their plan together. They met with local businesses, designed posters and flyers, and even baked cupcakes for their fundraiser.
Finally, they were ready to present their plan to the dean. They stood confidently in front of her, outlining their proposals and showing their calculations.
The dean listened intently, a hint of a smile on her face. When they finished, she nodded thoughtfully.
"I'm impressed," she said. "You girls have shown me that you're not just passionate about this event, but also responsible and resourceful. I'm willing to give you a chance..."
"...to reinstate the event, but with one condition: you must work closely with the university's events team to ensure everything runs smoothly and within budget."
The girls cheered, relieved and thrilled. They hugged each other, grinning from ear to ear.
"Thank you, Dean!" Amina exclaimed. "We won't let you down!"
The dean smiled, nodding. "I know you won't. You girls have shown me that you're capable of great things. Go make it happen!"
And with that, the girls set to work, determined to make their event a success. They worked tirelessly, overcoming obstacles and challenges along the way.
Finally, the day of the event arrived. The girls stood nervously, watching as the crowd began to gather.
But as the event got underway, their nerves gave way to excitement and pride. Everything was going perfectly – the performances, the food, the decorations.
As the night drew to a close, the girls took the stage, beaming with pride. They thanked the crowd, the university, and each other.
"We did it!" Amina exclaimed, tears of joy in her eyes.
And as they left the stage, arms around each other, they knew that this was just the beginning of their journey together.
