There was a new girl. I knew she was coming, but I didn't know her name, or who exactly she was, all I knew from my buddy Miles was that it was a girl. Nasa...or...Nisa? Anyway, something like that, apparently she's supposed to be smart...can't relate. I'm good at hockey, but my mom says I lack...intellect or something, she's not wrong, even I know that I'm a bit of a clueless, airhead sometimes, but, what can you do?
My buddy Miles says I'm way to optomisitic for my own good, which...isn't completely wrong, I guess, but that's not a bad thing, right? I mean you know the saying, when life you gives you lemons...eat them...or something, I can't remember, actually, I don't really like lemons-
"Oi! Rhodes! The game's in twenty minutes! you have got to stop spacing out like that-!"
My coach's voice snapped me back to reality. I looked up from my phone and started gearing up. I had an important game today, very important, actually, this could determine whether I'm on the varsity team or not...I'll probably get on anyway, but...better safe than sorry, right? That's when I saw her for the first time.
Holy shit. She's gorgeous.
Miles had to pick my jaw up from the floor when he caugh me staring. I couldn't help it though. She was bloody stunning.
She had the face of a bloody siren. Her eyes-god her eyes looked so...seductive...but she wasn't even trying, and her hair-god her hair...it was tied up, but it was so dark, almost black...and the way those bangs framed her face- Did i mention her skin? It was like the perfect colour of sand...and her eyes were like melted pools of chocolate. I found my own eyes travelling down... her body...Jesus....that body, she wasn't curvy, no....she was actually kind of flat...but that just made her even more attractive...if that's even possible. The new girl was a godess, that was the only explanation.
"Aiden!" Miles' laughing made me whip my head in his direction again "Pick your jaw up, you're drooling Romeo" Miles laughed hysterically.
My face suddenly felt hot, on the ice rink. That wasn't normal, no-
"Is-is that the new girl?" I managed to mumble out. Miles nodded in his hysteria. It wasn't that funny...my face got hotter. I needed to just play the game, and forget about her. Easy peasy lemon- my eyes drifed back up again.
Ah, shit.
"Miles?" I mumbled, my face growing hotter as the ice grew colder. Miles looked at me, still slightly hysterical,
"yeah Romeo?" Miles snickered
I huffed. nevermind. "Focus on the damn game" I muttered, grabbing my hockey stick.
I got into postion on the ice; center, and the puck was thrown up.
Immediately, I was in possession, I passed to Miles and he skated down the rink, passing to our other teamates, and trying not to get trampled by the other (very large) players from Frankhurst High. I was back in position of the puck as Cole passes to me, I was skating down the rink at top speed when-
Shit.
Some dick shoved me. I was shoved. Into the (very cold) ice. The bastard didn't even get a penalty. I took a deep breath. Jerk isn't worth it. I looked up at him with a somewhat forgiving expression. Maybe it was an accident? Ice hockey's an intense game...yeah, accident. Right?I felt kinda dizzy, as I stood up, my eyes could make out Miles and one of my other buddied yelling at the ref- I wanted to go over there and tell them to stop...But my brain felt fuzzy, and my vison was kind of blurry. I took a step, but immediately had to clind to the window for support.
For an accident he banged me up pretty good. I almost chuckled. The sides of my vison went slightly black, and the last thing I saw before blacking out was the guy who shoved me laughing.
Oh. Maybe it wasn't an accident.
