I did it. I'd...I'd helped her. I'd made her laugh like a maniac, i'd helped her learn to skate...she was grinning so wide and...god she looked so beautiful in a hockey jersey, wearing skates, grinning madly-
Wait jersey? I looked at the back of the jersey she was wearing. Hudson. That was Cole's last name. What the hell was she doing wearing my teamates jersey!? And why do i suddenly feel like punching him!?
"H-hey Nyssa?" I started. trying to keep my voice level, "why're you wearing Cole's jersey?"
She turned around, and nearly fell, I quickly shot my hands to grab hers, and steadied her. She looked down at the large shirt she was wearing. "Oh, uh, Brooke brought it from the lost and found, she said something about team spirit?"My...whatever emotion that was, died down, and i chuckled sheepishly, still holding her hand as I helped her keep her balance "Oh..right"
I had a bunch of jerseys...maybe she could wear one of them? No...that was too forward. But then again...i didn't like seeing her in Cole's old jersey. God, this was a difficult situation...either i could look like a total jealous jerk and offer her one of mine...or i could have the displeasure of seeing her wear my teamates jersey for the entire game.
Jesus, I wasn't usually like this...fuck, what do i do? Ok, i'm just...gonna tell her its cold, and she sould wear a sweater. Yeah. Because it is cold, and I care about her, and I don't want her to get sick. that's all.
"Nyssa" I started, skating beside her slowly, to match her pace "You should wear a sweater. It's getting cold" I said, hoping my voice didn't sound as nervous as I felt.
She looked at me with a somewhat confused expression, but then shrugged, which caught her off balance again, so naturally, my hand shot out to steady her again. "Yeah, maybe i'll wear one" she said
"also, I can handle myself, you don't need to catch me every two seconds"
I laughed "Yes i do. I don't want you to get hurt" I said genuinely, letting her go free, but to my suprise, she grabbed my hand again, "Can you...spin me around?" She asked, her tone almost...nervous. It was so cute. Nyssa Abrahams, nervous, asking me to spin her around on skates, a sight I thought i'd never see.
I grinned widely and suddenly took one of her hands and held it above her head "Ready?" I chuckled, and twirled her around by the hand, she spun, and almost fell, but I caught her, placing my hand on her back as she nearly hit the ground.
It was so cliche, the position we were in, like a spin and a dip, but i didn't mind, in fact I was enjoying it. She panted, her eyes wide from the shock.
"You-that's been something i've been wanting to do for so long-" She huffed out a laugh
I couldn't help but grin as I brought her back up and steadied her. I didn't realise how close I was holding her, until she came to rest a hand on my chest for support.
My cheeks blazed as I realised how close she was...I was holding her waist...and she wasn't pulling away from me.
Oh god. Oh god oh god oh god oh god-
"Rhodes!!!" My coach's screaming voice snapped us both out of our apparant haze, and we immediately pulled away from each other, Nyssa clinging to the glass for support now.
"Uh-good-good luck" She muttered, not looking me in the eye, and waddling out of the ice rink as coach cleared it out.
My game was in twenty minutes, and all I could think about was Nyssa Abrahams, and the way she'd felt in my arms.
