I was going to kill Mike Griffin.
Ahem, ok, that sounded bad, let me start from the beginning. Miles had convinced me to go the afterparty after we'd won the game, naturally i had agreed, and totally not because he said Nyssa was going to be there.
I found Nyssa reading on the couch, (this was after i had a couple of drinks) and sat down beside her. Now, I usually have a good alcohol tolerance, but as soon as i start getting a little tipsy, i start blurting out the most random shit ever, which...wasn't ideal in my situation with Nyssa.
I don't remember exactly what I did, but she'd told me to go sober up, which probably meant I did something stupid, so after a couple glasses of water, I went back out to apologise to her, and make things right...and thats when I saw him putting his all over her. Nyssa. My Nyssa-
Ok, not my Nyssa, she wasn't mine per. se, but in that moment, thats all i could really think about...I mean can you blame me? This guy was touching her! And she clearly didn't like it! I'd be an idiot if I didn't do something!
I also know that i vowed to never hurt another human being for as long as i lived but...fuck it, she was in trouble, and from the looks of it, slightly drunk.
So, I found myself marching up there, and ripping Mike Griffin off of her and shoving him to the wall with an emotion that I could only identify as rage.
"Why were you touching her!?" I deamnded, and raised my voice probably to the highest its ever been, it felt...wrong to yell like that...but this guy had laid hands on Nyssa, and i felt...rage like i'd never felt before, it was invigorating, but slightly terrifying too.
When he didn't respond, i shoved his back against the wall again, harder, "Answer me Griffin!" I yelled harshly. I wasn't suprised no one was paying attention except for Nyssa, the music was blaring loudly, and everyone was too engrossed in their make-out sessions and dirty dancing to really care.
"Yo-Aiden man, I was just-just having some fun-calm down dude-!" he finally responded, his voice panicked and high pitched. Huh, so this is what it feels like to be intimidating, never thought i'd see the day.
"Fun!?" I couldn't belive what this guy was saying, "You call spiking a girl's drink and then assulting her...fun!? What kind of sick-" I slammed him again "Twisted" another slam, "World are you living in!? That's fucking assult man! I could call the fucking police!"
Mike was quite visibly trembling by now, and I felt a surge of satisfaction at it, god this was so wrong, I was hurting him- but...how could I not!? He hurt her! He hurt Nyssa! My-I mean- Nyssa! And he spiked her drink! He deserved this...right?
Yes, he did.
Before he could say anything else, my fist connected with his jaw.
Everything after that was a blur.
I felt Miles rush towards me and pull me off, Brooke finally coming to her senses and helping Nyssa, the music still blaring mindlessly, teens still drinking and examining a groaning Mike Griffin slumped on the ground. Miles was trying to calm me down, and i guess it kind of worked...But i needed to find Nyssa. Brooke was probably too drunk to help her and-
"Aiden! Aiden dude! What happened!?" Miles's voice finally registered in my mess of thoughts
"He-he was-" I took a breath, "He touched her" I said quietly, "He was kissing her, and-and touching her Miles and-"
"Hey-buddy" Miles gave me a reassuring smile "I get it, i just...never expected you to....leave someone like that" he pointed to Mike on the ground, clutching his jaw and groaning loudly, while his football friends surrounded him and threatened me and Miles. But Miles didn't do anything. It was me. And when I looked at Mike at the ground I felt...ashamed...I mean I know what he did was wrong, so, so wrong, and to Nyssa but he-
"Aiden" Miles' voice was firm, "I know you think hitting people is wrong, but some people deserve it, do get me?"
I tried, i tried to get him. Miles knew better than anyone what my home life was like before i kicked out my father, so...he knows what he's talking about, and if he really thought Mike deserved that...then i suppose he did.
"Where's Nyssa?" I asked quietly, Miles pointed to where Nyssa was lying on the couch with her eyes closed, and Brooke was trying (and failing) to wake her up.
"Brooke's too drunk to take her home, I'd do it, but my parents are gonna want this mess to be cleaned up-"
"where does she live?" I interrupted"What?"
"Where does she live, Miles? I'll take her home" I said firmly
"I-i don't know, you'd have to ask Brooke-"
I marched to where Brooke was desperately trying to help her friend. I took my jacket off and put it on Nyssa."Brooke, where does she live?" I asked, scooping her up in my arms.
"Um-thedinerwhere~where she works~" Brooke slurred out "Justup- upthe stairs~"
"I'm gonna take her home, ok? Miles said he'd take care of you" I lied, Miles didn't say anything of the sort, but he wasn't heartless, even though he hated Brooke, he'd come through for her. I think.
I carried Nyssa out to where my my car was parked and gently placed her sleeping form in the passengers seat, placing her legs in my lap while I drived, so she was comfortable.
I glanced in her direction every now and then. God. She was so beautiful, so perfect, and she looked so...at peace while she slept. Utterly vulnerable, no defenses, her perfect face resting. I found myself pushing a strand of hair out of her face as she slept.
I reached the diner Miles had taken us to after that win against Frankhurst, and I had spoken to her for the first time. I almost laughed as I remembered the complete fool i'd made of myself that night, and the first time i'd heard her chuckle.
Slowly, I picked her up and carried her inside.
Shit. Her dad was inside, working.
