The morning sunlight streamed into the Kim household, casting a warm glow over everything. Jennie was already up, busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen, carefully making a special meal for Lisa. Her mind was filled with thoughts of their relationship, how happy Lisa made her, and how much she wanted to show her love through these small gestures.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Mrs. Kim noticed that Lisa had not yet come down for breakfast. She decided to check on her and headed towards Jennie’s room. She knocked softly on the door.

“Lisa, dear?”

Mrs. Kim called out gently.

From inside, Lisa’s voice responded, slightly muffled by the sound of running water.

“I’m in the shower, Aunty! I’ll be out in a minute!”

Mrs. Kim smiled to herself and, without hesitation, opened the door to Jennie’s bathroom. To her, Lisa was already like family, so it felt natural to check on her. However, Lisa wasn’t expecting anyone to come in, and when she saw Mrs Kim walk into the bathroom, her eyes widened in shock. She immediately covered her body with her hands, trying to hide as much of herself as possible.

“Aunty!”

Lisa exclaimed, her cheeks flushing pink.

“I-I wasn’t expecting—”

Mrs Kim chuckled softly at Lisa’s reaction, completely unbothered.

“Oh, Lisa, there’s no need to be so shy,”

She gave Lisa a reassuring smile.

“There’s no need to cover up, dear. We’re family now.”

Lisa awkwardly shifted but couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. Still, Mrs Kim’s calm demeanour eased her nerves slightly. She slowly lowered her hands but kept her body angled away modestly.

Mrs Kim, noticing her discomfort, laughed again and turned away to give Lisa a little privacy.

“You are sexy. My daughter is lucky,”

Mrs Kim teased and went out of the bathroom.

Lisa was a tomato. She took a bathrobe and went outside.

Coming out, Lisa spoke up, her voice soft but filled with emotion.

“Aunty… I mean, Mom.”

She paused, her heart racing as she gathered the courage to say what she’d been feeling for a while now.

“I just wanted to say that I consider you… as my only mother in this world. You’ve been so kind to me, and you make me feel like I’m truly part of this family.”

Mrs. Kim stopped in her tracks and turned around, her eyes softening as she looked at Lisa. She walked back toward her with a tender expression.

“Oh, Lisa,”

She said, her voice thick with emotion.

“You don’t know how much that means to me.”

Without a word, Mrs Kim reached for something around her neck and unclasped the delicate gold pendant she wore. She held it out to Lisa, who looked at it in confusion.

“This pendant has been in our family for generations,”

Mrs. Kim explained.

“It’s meant to be given to Jennie’s husband when she gets married. But… well, things have turned out a little differently, haven’t they?”

She smiled warmly, her eyes glistening.

“And I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Lisa stared at the pendant, overwhelmed by the gesture.
