I tried running away

I tried running away from my past, but the darkness swallowed me whole.

I tried forgetting, but there was always a reminder staring back at me when I looked at my reflection in the mirror.

I tried running
From the pain.
From the hurt.
From the heartache.
From the truth of who I really was.

Now the reflection of a little girl who endured suffering stares back at me.
The little girl who should have been protected from what she saw.

A little girl whose ears should've been held closed, so she wouldn't hear the tortured screams of her innocence fading.

A little girl whose innocence was snatched from her at a very young age.

A little girl who lost sigth of her reality and began making jp her own
Only to escape the deep , dark pit of despair that was buried deep inside her chest.

A girl who had seen more from the cruel world than she was suppose to.

I tried running.
I tried forgetting.
But every time I look in the mirror, it's the same little girl staring back at me.
