Juliana and Nate walked down the halls of East Highland High together, talking about their plans for after football and cheerleading practice that afternoon.
As they made their way towards her locker, she spotted Elliot's blonde head and tattooed arms at the end of the hallway. Thankfully, he was heading in the opposite direction.
She had really meant to tell Nate about Elliot asking her out, but she didn't want to bring it up the night of the party. She didn't want to cause any drama, especially when they were having so much fun after the football team's big win.
The next day, they went to the mall to look at Halloween costumes and fall decor, which she loved to do as soon as soon as the stores put it out. They had such a good day, and she didn't want to ruin it.
She decided she would tell him at lunch. She knew he would be pissed off, but she was going to have to bite the bullet. Obviously he didn't want her like that, and she would have to meet someone eventually.
She knew Nate worried about her, but she was a junior in high school now and had never even had sex or been in a relationship. She was sure he would understand that it was time for her to branch out a bit.
"See you in an hour." Nate embraced her before he headed off for his own class.
Juliana walked into her first class of the day and sat next to Maddy and Kat, who were so deep in conversation that they didn't notice her arrive.
"What's up?" She greeted the two girls. Both of their heads snapped towards her.
"Did you know this bitch lost her virginity at Mckay's party?!" Maddy asked in a loud whisper, making her and Kat laugh as a couple of their classmates looked their way.
"I did hear that but I wasn't sure if it was true. Congrats Kat, you officially have me beat."
"Not like you don't have options, girl." Kat said as she ran her fingers through her short black hair.
Juliana sighed and decided to fill them in about what really happened at the carnival; a short version of it anyways. "Well, Nate is definitely not one of those options like all of you thought. We actually did kiss at the carnival, but he basically rejected me."
She cringed at the thought of him telling her to stop. It was still a painful memory she tried not to think too much about. "But we talked it through and we're good."
Maddy's jaw dropped and Kat looked equally as shocked. "What the fuck? Are you fucking serious?" Maddy demanded, earning a dirty look from the teacher who had just walked in the classroom. "Well, clearly he's fucking brain dead."
"At least now I know and don't need to wonder." She said, trying to sound casual about it and not as sad as she felt.
"Well now you definitely need to catch a dick to get over that dick." Maddy started to look around the room, as if she was trying to pick someone out for he right then and there.
