Juliana Woodland and Nate Jacobs have been best friends for as long as they can remember.
They are now in their junior year at East Highland High School and things are starting to get complicated.

The next day at school, Nate knew he was going to tell Elliot to keep his hands off of Juliana. He couldn't stop thinking about it since she told him that they were partnered for an assignment.
Even into the night, as she slept soundly beside him, all he could do was stare at the ceiling in the dark and think about Elliot's smug face, and the fact that unlike everyone else at school, he didn't know that he was not to mess with her.
"What are you thinking about?" Juliana asked Nate as she opened her locker. She was getting ready for their first class of the day, which they had together.
He snapped out of his thoughts and took the book out of her hands to carry to class. "Just about how excited I am for the first bio class of the year." He replied sarcastically. Even though science was actually one of his best subjects, that didn't mean he really enjoyed it.
"You're still going to help me with it this year, right?"
"That goes without saying."
She was a smart girl but science was her worst subject. He helped her with it every year.
They made their way down the hallway and were about to go into the classroom when Nate noticed Elliot out of the corner of his eye, heading in the opposite direction.
"I'll be right back, I forgot something." Before she could even ask what, he took off, wanting to corner Elliot without her.
He was stopped in the nearly empty hallway, looking around for something.
"You need to back the fuck off." Nate growled from behind him, making him turn around quickly and give him a confused look. But before he could say anything, Nate spoke again.
"You know what I'm talking about. I know you were assigned to be partners but do not fucking mess with Juliana in any way or you'll have to deal with me."
It was just the two of them in the hallway now, and Elliot spoke next. "It's just a school thing, and she asked me to be partners, anyway."
For once, Nate didn't have anything to say, as he paused realizing what he said. Juliana had actually asked this dickhead to be partners, it wasn't assigned by their teacher?
"But what, are you guys in a relationship or something? Because I heard that was not the case, that you're just friends, so maybe you need to relax, sounds to me like she's available." Elliot raised his eyebrows.
Nate grabbed his shoulders and pushed him into the locker with a loud thud, glad that classes were already started.
"All you need to know is that she's mine and if you go near her, I will fucking kill you." Nate snarled at him before releasing his shoulders and stalking back to class, fuming.
