A couple of nights after their first date, Elliot asked Juliana if she wanted to come to his house to watch a movie.
She felt little guilty knowing that after their last date all she could think about was Nate; she didn't want to lead Elliot on. But she reminded herself that they had only been out once, so it's not like they were serious in any way.
Plus, she actually felt like she had to get out of her house to get her mind off Nate. She assumed he hated her now because they still hadn't spoke since their fight, making it a whole week of no contact.
A text from Maddy popped up on her phone as she stood in front of her mirror, smoothing down the blue sundress she had just put on.
Maddy💅🏽: Are you sure you don't wanna come? It's gonna be so fun!
Someone from the cheerleading team was hosting a girls night at her house. Maddy and Cassie already tried to convince Juliana to go to, but she was not in a partying mood.
She was even less in the mood to be questioned about what happened with her and Nate. She was sure the whole school had noticed by now, after them not being seen together all week.
Luckily, she had the plans with Elliot to use as an excuse to not go. Otherwise, she was pretty sure Maddy would have shown up to her house and dragged her there, not wanting her to be sitting around moping about Nate.

She knew full well she had no intentions of going anywhere but home after she hung out with Elliot, but she also knew that Maddy would keep trying to convince her to go.

She laughed and shook her head. When she told Maddy that Elliot asked her to come over and watch a movie, Maddy said that guys only want one thing when they suggest that: to try and get in your pants.
Juliana knew she was definitely not ready for anything like that with him. She didn't think that was what he meant by it, anyways. It was only their second time hanging out.

She tossed her phone on her bed and sprayed herself with her favourite Chanel perfume. She felt sadness wash over when she remembered that Nate gave her the perfume for her last birthday.
They were at the mall when she tested it and loved it, but couldn't justify spending that much on it. Then, the following month on her birthday, he had the fancy bottle all wrapped up for her with a pretty gold bow on it.
