Unspoken promise

I opened the door, and standing in front of me was Erica, her eyes red with tears.
-I don't know what to do, Belle. - ' She said and hugged me and I stepped back so we could enter the room.
-'Erica' I grabbed her shoulders and shook her gently 'what's wrong with you? Did something happen?
-'I can't believe I'm getting married. - She looked me in the eyes and sobbed like a baby.

I laughed lightly at the comical situation. I wiped her tears and hugged her warmly.-Erica, you are marrying the love of your life. Do you know how few people get to find their soul mate?
-Then why aren't you with yours? - she hissed at me
-'Please don't start again. - I sighed and bristled slightly at the thought of seeing Kenan tomorrow.
-Belle, you've changed in the last few months. It's like you've cooled off and your charming naivety is gone. - Erica said to me worriedly
-'I've made my goals clear and I'll stop at nothing to achieve them. I don't want to crumble again because of a man.
-He loves you. A lot. - She assured me.
-Don't you think I feel the same way about him? He's the man I've had the most sincere feelings for. But I paid the price for that and nearly ruined my father's business.
-Belle, please don't sink deep into the corporate world. Allow yourself to love and be loved. You deserve it.
I didn't say anything, I just hugged her. I appreciated what she said, but now all I wanted to focus on was myself.

-Erica, it's your big day tomorrow, let's focus on this, okay? - i smiled warmly at her
She nodded in response and hugged me harder this time. I felt like she told me something like "I'm here for you"
We talked some more and she finally felt more confident. I hugged her and blew her an air kiss.

Just before I closed the door to my room completely, I saw the door across the way open. Kenan was standing on it. I froze as I didn't expect his room to be so close to mine. I tried to keep my cool and not show that my heart was going to skip a beat.

-'Hello,' he whispered
I smiled warmly at him.
-'Shall we talk? - He asked and took a step back, motioning for me to come in so we wouldn't whisper in the hallway.

I nodded and walked into his room. I knew it wasn't right, but I think we needed to finally talk things out between us. He closed the door behind him, and it wasn't until then that I noticed he was only wearing cotton wide-leg pants and no t-shirt. At the sight of his naked body, everything in me turned over. I glanced away to keep calm. He sat on the couch in the room before his bedroom.

-Belle, it's been a long time. Let's discuss how we're going to proceed from here.
-Kenan, you know how important the gallery is to me. I owe everything to my father, I can't afford to let him down. You also know that if I'm with you, your father will break off our partnership. And it is the most important right now for my entire business.

I saw him take his head in his hands and lean his elbows on his knees. I could feel the guilt he was feeling. I approached him and put my hand on his shoulder. Electricity coursed through my body as I did so. He felt it too because he flinched. He took my hand and kissed my knuckles softly, looking up at me with his green eyes.

-'I think this between us needs to end. We're still too young to ruin our future, Kenan. - ' I said coldly and felt my heart tear.
No, I didn't really mean it, but I needed to tell him something to separate him from me.
-'And I don't want to come between you and your father. - I continued.
He nodded his head.

We were already standing in his doorway as I had to get back to my room. -'Good night, Kenan. - I whispered.
-'Good night, beautiful. - He whispered to me and I smiled at the way he called me.

I finally lay back in my bed and closed my eyes. I felt a dose of relief, but my feelings for Kenan were still there-I might never get rid of them. I kept telling myself that we were still very young. Maybe this thing between us is temporary and will pass. But my future - that's something I'm building right now. My whole life depends on it. Kenan was also developing his career, and our relationship and the situation with his father only complicated and strained everything.

The wedding day

I put on my dress, put on light makeup and let my hair fall free. The location suggested a more dressy look and anything overdone would have looked totally out of place.

Everything was wonderful. Erica kept crying, which made me cry too. She even barely held back her tears as they both said their cherished "I do's" and put the rings on their fingers. Tarak, on the other hand, was quite calm. He kept pinching her cheeks and laughed when she frowned. The two were perfect for each other and complemented each other perfectly. I looked at them and smiled. One day I would be so happy too. If only I could get on my feet and develop the gallery.

I glanced at Kenan from time to time, furtively. When he caught my gaze, I blushed slightly, but he smiled warmly at me, and it put me at ease. Maybe in the eyes of the others I looked like some crazy person, but there was an unspoken promise between us. Maybe one day we would be in Tarak and Erica's place. Happy and together forever.

-I'm so happy for you, guys! - I said with tears in my eyes and hugged both Erika and Tarak.
-Belle, we also want to see you as a bride, don't forget our ivitations. - Tarak smiled freindly at me. I knew what was hidden in these words, because he glanced a look at Kenan for a while.
-Guys, you'll be the first ones invited! - I said cheerfully, feeling my heart breaking in pieces on the outside.
