Ivy StewartShe was woken up by the constant buzzing of her phone, which was laying on the nightstand. Groggily, she reached over, squinting her eyes at the bright screen. It was her manager, Faye, calling.
Confused and still half-asleep, she swiped to answer. "Faye? It's so early... What's going on?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.
On the other end, Faye's voice was brisk and urgent. "Technically, it's past eleven where you are and almost seven p.m. in London." she teased. "We have a situation, Ivy."
That woke Ivy up a little more. She sat up, rubbing her eyes and glancing at the clock on the nightstand. It was later than she thought, and the sudden tension in Faye's voice made her pulse quicken. "What kind of situation?"
Her first thought was of the previous night—Taylor's concert, the after-party, the time they spent together. Was it possible someone had spotted them? Was this about her and Taylor?
"Wait," Ivy said, anxiety creeping in. "Is this about last night? Did... did people find out I was with Taylor? Are they starting to get suspicious?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and Ivy's pulse quickened. She held her breath, waiting for Faye's response.
But when Faye spoke, her tone was calm and reassuring. "No, no, Ivy, it's nothing like that," she said quickly. "It's about the foundation, not you and Taylor. There's some misinformation spreading online—accusations about the misuse of funds. It's ridiculous, of course, but we need to handle it immediately before it gets worse."
Relief and frustration mixed in Ivy's chest. "What? Are you serious?" she asked, pushing her hair back from her face as she tried to fully wake up.
"Unfortunately," Faye said. "I've set up a Zoom meeting with the PR team and the foundation board in an hour. I know it was supposed to be your free time to spend the day with Taylor but it's urgent."
As the call ended, Ivy set her phone down with a sigh, leaning back against the headboard. Just as she was about to gather her thoughts, she heard a soft voice behind her.
"Everything okay?" Taylor's concerned tone broke the silence. Ivy turned to see Taylor sitting up, looking clearly worried. The blonde woman leaned closer, pressing a kiss to Ivy's exposed shoulder.
Ivy gave her a small, tired smile. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you, Blue. There's some trouble with the foundation. A lot of misinformation is spreading online, and now we've got an emergency meeting."
Taylor furrowed her brows, her sleepiness now forgotten, concern evident in her eyes. "What kind of misinformation?"
Ivy let out a heavy breath. "Some accusations about the misuse of funds. It's all baseless, but still, people are talking." She rubbed her temples, the weight of the situation pressing down on her.
