The feeling of pure fear was not a feeling that Kassidy Lainey was unfamiliar with. Each time she felt it, it was almost as if she was greeting an old friend or rather an old enemy.

She felt frozen in her spot as the wind moved quickly. Her eyes didn't leave the dark clouds. Memories of 5 years ago seemed to be the only thing she could think of. As the pure fear of it happening again filled her entire body.

The face of Connor flashed through her brain, and then of Addy. It didn't feel like she was here. It felt like she was there like she had just lost them.

When she felt a tug on her hand she barely noticed, it wasn't until someone said her name that she numbly clued back in. People around them were running and screaming, trying to get out as fast as possible. Kit found it hard to move.

It was Tyler who ended up grabbing her and pushing her forward. His hand was on her arm tightly and he refused to let go. Kate was ahead of them, and Kit could see the fear in her eyes. It wasn't just her reliving that 5 years ago, Kate was too.

"Kate, Kit come on and keep moving," Tyler pushed both of them forward, making sure he was the last one. It was hard to hear him over the announcer who was still yelling about the evacuation.

The scene before them had unfolded into complete chaos. Horses were running loose and had knocked over a woman in front of them. Kit, despite not being completely present at the moment, didn't hesitate to move to help her get up.

"You're okay," she told her, the woman didn't even speak she just stood and kept running.

Kit swallowed and looked around, lightning was flashing in the sky and the wind was already blowing things around. Her feet were moving and she wasn't even thinking about it, while she, Tyler, and Kate went to cross the street.

Tyler put his hand out to stop a truck from hitting them and the driver slammed on their brakes. It allowed the three of them to cross, running to the motel.

They made their way under the flickering lights and Kit could see a woman trying to get her daughter in her car so they could leave.

"Ma'am no-" Kate called out.

"Stay out of the car," Tyler's usually calm voice was filled with panic. The mother looked terrified but complied and Kit breathed deeply. Cars were a horrible place to be in an oncoming tornado. She didn't want to think about what would have happened if they hadn't listened.

Kit ran inside, her adrenaline beginning to kick in. Her mind still co to yed to flashback to 5 years ago, but when her eyes landed on a panicked Kate once again, a small part of her seemed to focus. She didn't want to lose Kate again. She couldn't - she couldn't lose another person she loved to a tornado.
