The admiral's eyes opened, finding himself amidst the debris of an apparent derelict ship out in the void of space. He idly looked around and recognised a few of the tattered banners that hung from destroyed sections of hull.

Might of Thousands. The Oberon-class battleship he had served upon as an ensign. Her hull was broken and rusted, even as he stood on the crew deck, or what remained of it at least. The broken rib vault ceiling above him gave away that he was standing in the central cathedral if he remembered correctly. He knew this wasn't real, he'd be dead if it was, but it felt almost too real to be a dream.

From behind him came a quiet chiming noise. He turned and found an unfamiliar woman behind him, similar to Musashi in her serenity, but somehow she seemed even more ethereal with long white hair that fell about her shoulders and cascaded down to the back of her legs. Nine pristine white fox tails sprouted from her back and curled around her like a soft blanket.

???: "... This one has seen much war amidst your dreamscape."

Her tone seemed somber, empathetic

Her tone seemed somber, empathetic. But Y/n remained resolute in his stern addressing of the shipgirl.

Y/n: "Who are you? Clearly you're of the Sakura Empire, but I haven't seen you before."

The unknown shipgirl smiled as she slowly approached, her wooden sandals clicking against the broken metal and marble flooring below her.

???: "I am called Shinano. An aircraft carrier of the Sakura Empire."

Y/n: "Hm. None of the others have mentioned you before, then again, I suppose it would take time to gather the entire Sakura Empire's dossier."

Shinano nodded before her left ear twitched and she turned to look out at the void before them.

Shinano: "... What is this place?"

Y/n: "... Segmentum Ultima. Dovar system, near the Damocles Gulf. We're on the derelict of the Might of Thousands. The first ship I served on."

Shinano walked over to one of the broken wall sections and placed her hand upon it. A large column that ran up the wall, embellished with a broken golden statue of a hooded skeletal figure wielding a huge sword.

Shinano: "She must have been beautiful..."

Y/n gave a fond smile as he remembered his first day on the ship. The kind smile of his captain, the constant barking of the ministorum priest that so often accompanied them.

Y/n: "She was. Utterly beautiful..."

He sat down, dangling his legs over the precipice between the remainder of the floor section and the endless abyss below.

Shinano: "May I ask how she came to be in this state?"

Y/n let out a sigh as he turned his attention back to the ruined hull of the Oberon-class battleship.
