"He couldn't wait."

Taehung couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned in his bed, the sheets tangling around his legs as if trying to trap him in place. But it wasn't the bed that was the problem—it was the distance. Just down the hall, in another room of the same house, was Lisa. His Lisa. The woman he'd be engaged to tomorrow, if everything went according to plan.
He glanced at the glowing numbers on his bedside clock. 11:47 PM. Less than thirteen minutes until midnight, and then it would officially be their engagement day. Taehung grinned in the darkness. He'd never been one for following rules or traditions, and tonight was no exception.
With a mischievous glint in his eye, Taehung threw off the covers and padded barefoot to his door. He opened it slowly, wincing at the slight creak of the hinges. The hallway was dark and quiet, everyone else in the house fast asleep. Everyone except him, and hopefully, Lisa.
He tiptoed down the hall, his heart racing with each step. When he reached Lisa's door, he paused, his hand hovering over the knob. Should he knock? No, that might wake the others. Instead, he turned the handle slowly, praying it wouldn't make a sound.
The door opened silently, and Taehung slipped inside, closing it behind him with a soft click. The room was bathed in soft moonlight streaming through the curtains, illuminating Lisa's form on the bed. She was lying on her side, facing away from him, her long hair spilling across the pillow like a dark waterfall.
Taehung's breath caught in his throat. She was beautiful, even in sleep. He took a step forward, then another, his feet sinking into the plush carpet.
"Lisa," he whispered, so softly it was barely audible. "Lis, are you awake?"
For a moment, there was no response. Then, Lias stirred, rolling over to face him. Her eyes fluttered open, confusion clouding her features before recognition set in.
"Tae?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. "What are you doing here?"
Taehung grinned, that roguish smile that never failed to make Lisa's heart skip a beat. "I couldn't wait," he said simply.
Lisa sat up, the blankets pooling around her waist. She was wearing a simple cotton nightgown, her hair slightly mussed from sleep. Even in this state—or perhaps because of it—Taehung thought she had never looked more beautiful.
"Couldn't wait for what?" Lisa asked, though the blush creeping up her cheeks suggested she knew exactly what he meant.
Taehung took another step closer, his eyes never leaving hers. "To see you. To be with you. To start our life together."
Lisa's blush deepened, but she tried to school her features into a stern expression. "Tae, this is not how it's supposed to go!" she scolded, though there was no real heat behind her words. "You're not supposed to see me until the engagement ceremony tomorrow."
Taehung's grin widened as he sat on the edge of the bed. "Well, I don't play by the rules, babe. You should know that by now."
Despite her best efforts, Lisa couldn't help but smile. It was true; Taehung had never been one for convention. It was one of the things she loved most about him.
"Besides," Taehung continued, reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind Lisa's ear, "I missed you."
Lis raised an eyebrow. "Missed me? We had dinner together less than four hours ago."
