Mason Daley doesn't know who I am, well I thought he didn't. So when he came over to me in the canteen and asked if I wanted to catch a movie sometime, I was genuinely shocked. I sat there with my mouth, half full of chips, wide open. I only realised when a chip dropped from it onto the floor. He laughed. However, he stood there in wait for an answer.
"Is this a dare or something?"
"No?" He sat there with a look of confusion on his face.
"Oh" I felt my cheeks burn bright red. I waited for a while thinking that the dramatic pause thing was going to make him feel more attracted after the whole chip incident. It didn't work. He started tapping his foot and looked at his wrist which didn't even have a watch on it. "Sure," I said hastily, wondering why I was about to confirm details on a date with a guy that seemed to have completely no interest in me what so ever. "What time shall we meet?"
"Um Friday at 8, I here that it's the first viewing of Impossible Race?"
"Sure," I said again as if it was the only word I could manage to say.
"I'll see you then." And without another word he walked off. I sat there in utter confusion as to why Mason Daley, the hottest guy in the whole entire state, let alone the school, had just asked me out on a date. He was literally perfection on every level. Toffee coloured hair that flapped down over his piercing, blue eyes, which every now and then had to be flicked back in the sexiest way possible. His flawless face, as if he wasn't an ordinary 17 year old teenager with spots all over it. His eyes seemed so distracting that if you stared at them for too long people may think that you were under a spell. Lips any girl would die to kiss and I was about to go on a date with him. I was baffled. By the looks of things, so were Kim and Lee, my best friends. They were the bestest friends ever and no one would ever change that, even if I did get the hottest boyfriend in the whole entire world, this would never change.
"What the hell just happened?" I stuttered to them both.
"I don't even know." Replied Lee.
"I was too busy staring at his eyes..." Kim said dreamily. "You just got a date with Mason Daley and I have no idea how the fricking hell you did it. Tell me your secret!" she screamed still staring in the direction he exited the room.
"Kim, stop staring at his butt in your imagination," said Lee
"How could you tell?"
"The way your pupils got larger than life told me that somehow you were focusing in on something and I'm guessing it wasn't the logo on his shirt."
Kim giggled and blushed. "Well if you were gay then you would do exactly the same thing."
"I am definitely not going to turn gay." Lee spouted as Kim raised her eyebrows.
"Why not? Are you saying that people that are gay are bad people?"
"Guys that is definitely going into a subject we do not want to bring up in the middle of the canteen right now. Don't you think?" Last week Max was caught getting busy in the caretakers room with Dan. Different versions of the story went around the school and eventually the principle made it a rule that we were not to talk of it and if anyone did they would be suspended.
"I guess you're right," Lee finally said and stared into space.
"Focus guys! What do I wear? What do I say? How do I get there? Do I tell my parents? HELP!"
"A sexy red dress would do the trick I expect," Lee said after looking at my figure way too deeply, like he was examining me, to make sure the dress would suit.
"No. Bad idea. Might get him a bit excited and it's only the first date." Butted in Kim. "You make polite conversation and try to make him laugh but don't joke around too much or he might think you're immature. Laugh at his jokes and he will think you like his humour. And definitely do not tell your parents you are going on a date with Mason Daley. The reputation he has with the parents is ridiculous."
"But true," interjected Lee.
"As I was saying..."
"I can drop you off if you want as I happen to know that my mum won't mind. She never cares where I am."
"Ok, It's all sorted. Lee you will pick me up at 7:45. Kim you will you come over at 7:00 to help me get ready since you're the expert and we can go over what to say. My parents are at work till 9:00 that night so I will leave a note saying I'm at Kim's house. Ok?"
"Yep that sounds fine. Can I get there at like 6:00 though, as you are going to need a lot of help?"
"Hey! I'm not that bad!"
The bell rang. I had Chemistry next. Worst subject ever. I had to sit in-between Max and Dan... Never good news even before they were an item. They constantly mess around and Chemistry's not one of my stronger subjects.
"Oh well. I'll speak later, I have to run. I've got Math. See you in a bit," shouted Kim as she ran out of the canteen.
"I better go too. You know how Mrs Lever gets if you are one second late. Bye!" Lee said not so worryingly as I would have said it, knowing Mrs Lever from past experiences. I was once trying to find my lip gloss when I dropped my bag. The contents went everywhere, under the toilet doors, under the sinks. I think I may have lost a brush in the bin. My stuff that was in my bag literally flew out in all directions. It took me about 5 minutes to clear it all up and scrub away the eye shadow that had smashed on the floor. Mrs Lever was fuming and when I tried to explain she simply told me to sit down and to remove my lippy. My time wasted.
