As I felt him get closer, I noticed that Past Kuro was calm. He's too far in the past... His Athanatos were probably still his 'friend'. "Come out you traitor." I said as my grip on my sword tightened. He's coming close. "Uhh, why are you on guard? It's just my friend." Past Kuro said in confusion. I can't tell him... not now. Out of nowhere, a figure appeared in front of us. He's here... but he's different. He wasn't wearing a black armor. He was just a normal teenager. His hair was the same as how I remembered it when I was younger. His face brought many memories of good and bad. But my question remains... Why is his aura the same as the future Athanatos? "Woah who is this?" Past Athanatos asked Past Kuro. His voice... It's something I remembered... The voice of a liar. It was at this point that I noticed that Past Athanatos had the same aura as Future Athanatos because he was lying from the start. "Atha. Meet future me." Past Kuro came out from behind me and started to move closer to Past Athanatos. "Oh, so you met a future version of you as well?" Past Athanatos said with a smile. A fake smile perhaps. So he met The Chaos Knight... I can stop him right here and now but if I did then that would mean I would ruin the timeline. The only thing I can do now is stay quiet. "How did you know I'm here? I didn't even tell you about me going to the Everfree Forest." Past Kuro smiled at Past Athanatos while he asked the question. "Well Twilight told me that you followed a future version of you and I came to see if you're okay or not." Past Athanatos answered with his fake smile. Something is sketchy here... If he was from the castle then why did he appear from inside of the forest? I pushed that thought aside and glared at Past Athanatos. "Hello there... Athanatos." I said with an angered tone while still glaring at him. Just saying his name makes me want to rip my throat off. He looked at me with his wicked smile. I don't know if it's just me or if he's planning something... but if I remember this isn't the timeline that he betrays me so he's not risking it all to change the future... Unless... I shook my head to get away from those thoughts and tried to think about the current situation. "Hello there future version of Kuro." He said with a sarcastic voice, his smile still on his face. "What help will you give us?" I said with an edgy tone, my eyes were piercing into his. "Oh simple... I know where Leeqa is." Past Athanatos's smile grew at the mention of him knowing where Leeqa was. At some point, I knew this was a trap but my mind says otherwise... Even if it was a planned ambush I think I could still take them on. Past Kuro looked at me as I were lost in thought. "Uhh, you okay there future me? You don't seem happy about Athanatos knowing about Leeqa's whereabouts." Past Kuro questioned me again. His voice sounded as if he was full of trust... This version of me doesn't know what betrayal is yet... "I looked at him and smiled to show him that everything was just fine. "Nah I'm fine kiddo... Just overthinking... that's all" I said in a fake cheerful tone, trying to convince him that nothing is wrong. "Anyways... We're running out of time... Leeqa is going to die if we don't reach him after sundown. We must move quickly." Past Athanatos said with a worried tone. I know for a fact he is lying but I know that I can take The Magister one-on-one even if it is an ambush. I think I fell for too many tricks to understand what tricks are up their sleeves. As I was lost in thought, Past Athanatos walked deeper into the forest with Past Kuro. I decided that a plan to stop the ambush could wait a bit longer so I followed them into the forest. "So future Zetsura... What happens in the future? What happened to your timeline if the magister came and tried to ruin this?" He questioned me. His voice sounded mischievous. He dares question me about the future. He's probably trying to get on my nerves because he knows about the future. Knew about his future self. I stayed quiet. I didn't want to give answers to a liar. "Sorry about that Atha... future me is kinda quiet..." Past Kuro said while nudging my arms. If only he wasn't this innocent... If only he knew about this trap... If only he knew about the future. Snap. A twig snapped in the distance. If the monsters are showing up now then that would be weird... There were no roars or cries of any monster... Unless... I protected Past Kuro by pulling him away from Past Athanatos and putting him behind me. I pulled out my sword and was prepared to face whatever was coming. Footsteps... The footsteps sounds like it was made by a human. But what kind of human... I can't feel any evil nearby but I can hear it. Closer and closer... And it stopped... Just right there and then... Or so I thought until I felt a droplet fall onto my hand. This was no droplet. The droplet of water made it into my skin as if it were a sharp knife. The droplet finally stopped when it went through my hand. It hurts. Like a sting from a bee accept that the bee wants you dead. "Hello there... Zetsura Kuro..." A figure spoke behind me with a gurgly tone. When did he get here? I knew who it was. I turned my head to look at the figure. Staring deep into his eyes. I clenched my teeth to hide the pain of the droplet on my hand. The figure smiled as he watched me standing still while holding my severed hand. So he came back to the past with the magister... A high-level threat... The acidic assasin... Corrosis.
