That night I found myself still sitting beside Aida on the couch. The day had been long, filled with laughter and shared moments as she explored the world through the lens of the camera I'd given her. Now, we were reviewing the photos she'd taken, her brow furrowed in concentration as she studied each one.

I couldn't help but steal glances at her, my heart doing this weird little flip every time she smiled or let out a soft chuckle at something she found amusing. There was something about the way she looked at the world, a kind of innocence mixed with a quiet determination, that drew me to her more than I wanted to admit.

She had this way of making everything seem new, like I was seeing things for the first time through her eyes. And the more time we spent together, the more I found myself... well, wanting to be close to her. It was more than just a bond of friendship—something deeper, something that I couldn't quite put into words.

I noticed the way my heart would quicken whenever she leaned in to show me a picture, her shoulder brushing against mine. Or how I'd catch myself staring a little too long at her profile, marveling at the way the light played on her features. And then there was her laugh—light, melodic, and so genuine that it made me smile every time I heard it.

But what struck me most was how comfortable I felt around her. There was no need for pretenses or guarded walls. With Aida, I could just be... me. And the more I let that feeling settle, the more I realized how much I wanted her to stay.

As we scrolled through the photos, she turned to me, her eyes searching mine, and for a split second, I wondered if she felt it too—the growing connection between us, the pull that seemed to draw us closer with each passing day.

"Micah," she began, her voice soft, a hint of something unspoken in her tone. "These photos... they're so different from what I'm used to. Everything here is different, but it's so nice and easy.."

I nodded, trying to keep my voice steady. "I know it must be overwhelming, but you're adapting so quickly. You've shot so many good pictures. I think you've got a real talent, Aida."

She smiled, a small, almost shy smile that made my heart squeeze. "It's because of you. You've been so patient with me, showing me all these new things. I'm grateful for that."

Our eyes met, and for a moment, I thought about reaching out, taking her hand in mine, just to feel that connection again. But before I could act on it, she looked away, her expression turning contemplative.

I couldn't help but wonder how she'd react if she knew how I was feeling—if she realized that my heart was slowly, inevitably, falling for her— more attracted to her I mean.

As the night wore on and we eventually parted ways—her to the couch and me to my room—I found myself lying awake, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts spinning in circles. I couldn't stop thinking about her, about the way she made me feel, and about the growing attraction that I was finding harder and harder to ignore.

But more than that,  I wondered if, in time, she'd come to see what I was slowly realizing—that maybe, just maybe, this connection between us was something more than either of us had expected.

The morning light filtered softly through the curtains as I woke up, the weight of yesterday's thoughts still lingering in my mind.

I made my way to the living room and found her at the kitchen table, hunched over my laptop. The familiar sight of her brought a small smile to my face.
