Monday morning
The trial for Auden's custody is in two days and I decided to stay with him until then. I have faith that Hardin will win the case. He's a good father.
As I arrive at their place, I'm greeted by Auden. He's really happy to see me and I honestly missed him over the weekend. This kid is amazing and I really care about him.
"Good morning, sweet boy." I say and I kiss his cheek. "Where's your daddy?"
"Breakfast. Yummy."
"Oh, nice." I take off my shoes and we go to the kitchen where Hardin makes breakfast.
"Good morning, Hardin."
"Hi, Tess." Goosebumps rises on my skin when I hear how he calls me.
"Do you need help with breakfast?" I say feeling the tension between us.
"No, thank you."
"Play?" Auden asks me and we go to play until Hardin makes breakfast.
Fifteen minutes later, he comes with the
breakfast and I help Auden to eat it.
"It's okay if Michael will come here to talk with you? I talked with him and we decided that you can be a witness in this case. You were with me and Auden in the last months and you witnessed how our relationship is."
"Yeah, it's okay. I'm happy to help. I'm even sure that you will win the case."
"Thank you, Tessa..."
"I'm glad I can help. You are a good father." I smile. Hardin wants to tell something, but my phone starts to ring.
"Will you excuse me a minute?"
"Sure." He says and I go in the kitchen to answer my phone. It's Alex.
Phone call
"Hi."
"Hello. Are you ignoring me?"
"Huh? No."
"You didn't contact me since Saturday night."
"I was busy. And I'm working now. I'll talk to you later. Alright?"
"You didn't think about leaving that job?"
"Alex..." I sigh. "I like what I do and you can't change my mind."
"Okay. Sorry. Can we meet tonight?"
"I don't know. I don't know when I will be home."
"I can pick you up."
"I'm with my car, but thanks. I'll text you when I'm free, okay?"
"Okay, fine." He sighs.
"Goodbye, Alex."
"Bye." I end the call and I go back to Hardin and Auden.
"I'm sorry."
"Are you back to him?"
"Excuse me?"
"With your ex."
"I don't think this should bother you. My private life shouldn't concern you."
"It does. Why? Because I know he abused you and he might be a danger in my son's life."
"I assure you that Alex won't be around Auden."
"Okay. But be careful with that man, I don't trust him."
"I will, Hardin."
"Good. I'm going to work in my office. In case you need me, I will be there." He says and he leaves in his office.
