I nodded and followed after him, grabbing up my frappe and heading back to my car. I waited for Indy to pull out and trailed right behind him. We stopped outside a remote looking area. The ground was flat, there was a forest nearby, and a seaplane was bobbing up and down on the water.

"Jock!" Indy called out his friend's name.

"Ah, Indiana Jones," A man wearing a blue mechanics outfit and a baseball cap walked out from behind a medium sized cargo plane. "Where to this time?"

"Oh!" I smiled as I recognized him. "Jock! I've heard so much about you! Uhh... that snake isn't-"

"You're all up in arms about that too, eh?" Jock grinned. "Well, I got her her own terrarium now to keep her away from you, if that's what you two are worried about."

Indy laughed nervously, shaking it off.

"We're off to Mexico," He explained quickly, changing the subject. "Around the old Mayan ruins."

"I see," Jock nodded. "Is there some kind of treasure around there?"

"A key to some treasure, yes," I told him.

"Interesting," Jock began. "Alright, hop in."

He opened the door to the cargo plane he'd just been working on, and allowed Indiana and me to get inside. Sure enough, sitting on one of the seats was a medium-sized green terrarium with a snake writhing around inside.

Even though it was contained, Indy sat as far away from it as he possibly could, and I sat down across from him.

"So, what's your thing with snakes again?" I asked him, taking a sip of my frappe.

Indy didn't reply as the plane started to take off.

"Ah, touchy subject, right," I started to say after a few moments passed.

"What's your deal with snakes then?" Indiana asked me.

"I just don't like being around things that could potentially harm me," I explained. "Or small bugs, but I think that's fair."

"Small bugs?" Indy pressed.

"Yes, I can't stand them," I agreed. "Well-- caterpillars are cute, and they grow up to be something even more cute, so they're okay by me. And I've gotten a bit better around spiders after learning that they eat everything else that I hate."

"I see," Indy nodded, taking a sip of his coffee.

"Say," I began, turning around and calling to Jock. "How long should this take?"

"About five hours or so, why?" Jock called back.

"Alright then," I muttered. "I guess I'll just have to find some way to pass the time. Say, Professor Jones-"

He already had his hat pulled down over his face and murmured, barely audible, "Wake me up when we get there."

"Well okay then, there goes that plan," I sighed, not wanting to disturb him now that he'd fallen asleep.

Instead, I just pulled out my notebook and started sketching whatever random things came to mind as birds and clouds passed by.

...

"We're here," Jock made the announcement after what felt like forever, and the plane started dipping down. "So, you want me to land somewhere in between all of these ruins?"

"That would be ideal, yes," I nodded. "If you can pull that off."

"I'll gladly give it a try," Jock decided, swerving downwards.

The plane hit the ground hard, rocking back and forth before coming to a stop amidst the ruins.

"Definitely one of your rougher landings," Indy commented from behind me.

"Well, I got you here in one piece, now didn't I?" Jock grinned. "I suppose you'll want me to fly you to the next place, too?"

"Yeah," I told him.

"So just stick around," Indy finished.

"Fine by me," Jock shrugged. "By the time I'm done here, you'll owe me half of what you find anyways."

Indiana shook his head, smiling at Jock as we exited the airplane.

"Where do you think the Mayans would've hid something so valuable?" Indy asked me.

"On top of one of the pyramids, maybe?" I shrugged. "I know it's really obvious and probably unlikely, but it's a good place to start."

I started climbing up the stairs of the closest pyramid, with Indiana right behind me. Sure enough, as I'd predicted, there was nothing up here, but it did give us a good view. There was nothing notable as far as the eye could see though, and it didn't seem like the tablet was on any of the other pyramids either.

"Where would it be then?" I wondered. "It's not like you can go inside the pyramids, right?"

"I don't think so," Indy agreed.

"Hmmm... maybe we should check over there," I decided, pointing to the pyramid farthest away from us, deep into the cluster of ruined pyramids. "Maybe it's atop that one or something?"

I headed off, still uncertain, but wondering where else there was to look around here. Even though, as we approached, I saw no glinting light indicating there was treasure atop the pyramid, I kept heading up the stairs anyways.

"Woah!" I gasped as, about halfway up, one of the steps disappeared right from beneath me. "Ahh!"

Indy and I started falling before we even had a chance to react. I couldn't even see the ground as we plunged into the darkness below, deep into the pyramid. I formed a mound of snow below us, hoping it would be enough to break our fall.

"That's odd," Indy muttered, sitting up and rubbing his head as we landed in the snow. "Since when was there snow here? And how has it not melted after all this time?"

"Beats me," I shrugged, glancing around the room, quickly trying to change the subject. "Look! Over there! I think that's the garnet tablet!"

I pointed to something shiny that was barely visible in the light coming from the hole in the ceiling. Sure enough, as I got closer and was able to make it out, I saw it was the garnet tablet, exactly as I had predicted.

"Got it!" I exclaimed.

"Now, how are we going to get out of here with it?" Indy wondered aloud, glancing around the room for himself.

That... was a good question.
