Gojo's mind was occupied by that scene, over and over and over again, what did it mean? What did his six eyes tell him?
So many mysteries of this world, there were already so many back in the Jujutsu world, but ones in this world absolutely took the cake.
'That serpent thing... I think it's more accurate to call it a Leviathan?' He compared it to the stories and mythology of Leviathans back on Earth, great serpentine-like beasts that roamed the oceans. One of its most common interpretations.
He's heard of Yamata-no-Orochi, and how Sukuna had killed it back in the Heian era, was it something like that?
A great beast based on the Shinto Mythology of Japan, an eight headed beast that could regenerate endlessly, no matter what damage it took. It had a breath of fire, so hot it leveled entire forests with the mere huff from one of its heads.
It could summon storms that ravaged even the most fortified of fortresses, devastating Japan during its ungodly wake. Not only that, but the tides changed whenever the beast settled itself into the waters of its domain, causing ripples in the ocean waves, and even tsunamis if it thrashed its body hard enough.
This great beast, which was an absolute terror that Japan's sorcerers during that time had to face, was also a being who possessed great intelligence. That made it even more cunning, and as more fear was built around it and its legend was set in stone, it abused the fact that curses were built upon negative emotions, as it kept large populations alive; but still terrorizing with its mighty presence.
It was stated in legends that Susanoo no Mikoto was the one who defeated the great serpent after tricking it to drink alcohol strong enough to make it sleep. Then, he struck the creature down, not without breaking his own blade though.
However, that was what the sorcerers wanted the populace to think, to hide what had truly transpired.
In the actual records that Gojo had stored in his family clan's vault, Ryomen Sukuna had slaughtered it.
Piece by piece, skin by skin, flesh by flesh, so on and so forth. Every part of its body was ravaged in an epic battle that could only be told in tales, as Sukuna wielded his two cursed tools Kamutoke and Hiten, engaging in a battle that shook the lands, oceans, and the very foundations of heaven itself.
It is said in ancient scriptures that the regeneration of the great eight-headed serpent was so great that it was able to recover from the damage that Sukuna had done to it faster than they could form, but Gojo knew that the King of Curses was most likely screwing around and having fun during that time.
Thanks to its great size, the snake's regeneration was also extremely long lasting, as Sukuna had to target more body parts than if it were a small size.
Apparently, the story ended with Sukuna opening his domain, slaughtering it with millions upon millions of slashes, and using his Furnace, incinerating the snake completely and cutting off its regeneration.
Oh, what Gojo would give to experience what Sukuna had fought. So, how did the Leviathan-esque creature that Gojo witnessed compare to that mythological beast?
'No, it has to be far... far greater,' a smile formed his face in anticipation. 'Is it what the Merger could have been?'
That elusive merger that Kenjaku had talked about... the damned body snatcher who took his friend's body, something that caused his fist to clench until his veins popped out.
Texas stared at him with a slightly concerned look, before opening her mouth in speak in the training room, "Kal'tsit just texted me a message, it reads, 'have you decided on whether you wish to join Rhodes Island or not?'"
