Sweet smells entered my nose, and I felt at ease. "I'm dead." I thought. Light peeked through my eyelids, causing my eyes to flitter open.
Next to me sat Sabashtin and two men I was yet to recognize. I tried to sit up. The simple task itself felt like a thousand bricks were holding me down. "Woah... Princess... I mean Ryder! Lay back..," Sabashtin said, panic in his voice. He turned to one of the men ushering him to come next to us. "Ryder, I want you to meet someone," Bash said, shyly, pointing to a man. He had hair similar to Bash's, but in the sun I could pick out strands of auburn. He had eyes that were greener than a canvas of forestry, almost a pale jade, with flickers of yellow... and purple. "Ryder, this is my brother Draco, he saved us, and somehow managed to heal you." Bash said looking directly at me. Draco looked a few years older than me, compared to his brother, whom of which looked a few years younger than I. "What happened, and where in god's name am I?!" I asked, still trying to wrap my mind around all of this.
"Well, um ... after we fled from my aunt Cree's cottage, we got chased and well ... um..." Bash looked out of words, turning to his brother as though he somehow had all the answers. "What my little brother here is trying to say is that when you both got caught I had to come save you both, because of you haven't noticed my brother is still learning how to fight." Draco said, looking at his brother, as though he was getting onto him without words. "After we thought we had cleared the area, we went to get you, and... It was then we noticed there was someone.. someone behind you, trying to keep you captive. By the time we had killed him, he had already poisoned you, luckily our healer Monya knew exactly what kind of poison and we got you to her soon enough, before it spread anymore." Draco explained. I was shocked, and a bit taken aback, trying to figure out how I was going to take all of this in at once.
Bash patted my leg and bid me farewell, saying he had some unattended things to take care of, leaving me with his brother. "If you feel up to it princess, would you like to accompany me to the tour of the grounds?" Bash inquired. I thought momentarily, unsure if I was truly fit to go about. "I'd love to," I answered. A smile appeared on Draco's face. "Your clothes are over there beside the vanity. My sister has taken it upon herself to have some made for you," Draco turned from me to the door leaving me to my own substantial amount of privacy. Before I could reach what are now my clothes, a small, petite girl came up beside me. "Miss, I am Hatie, I will be your helper while you stay in castle Carion, do you need any help with dressing your highness?" The girl smiled, she looked to be about 14. We walked up to the area where my new clothes were. They were behind a changing devider, that was hand painted to look like a dragon flying in the night sky.
My face seemed to light up when I seen the variety of colors, styles, and textures. My eyes set one one specific gown though,"Is this all mine?" I asked, looking from the clothes to Hatie. "Yes your highness...," Hatie said, "Would you like to wear this one today?" She asked, pointing to the gown I was previously gawking at. "Oh my lord! Yes!!!" I squealed. I began to undress out of my dirty clothes, noticing how torn up and dirty they now were.
Hatie walked up behind me and without my consent helped me get dressed into the gown I had chosen.
It was a pale blue dress that went with my grey eyes, causing them to look almost as white as snow. Down the dress was tiny patterns of mystical children playing, chasing some magical creature through the woods. The closer I looked at it I noticed that the dress itself was so detailed it was beyond comprehension. I thanked Hatie for my help as she finished lacing the pre-set corset, and then walked out from behind my changing station. Hatie smiled as she came up beside me. "I'll go fetch master Draco miss." She bowed gracefully, and walked out of the room for a short while, then walked back in with Draco. His eyes went wide with amazement. "You clean up rather nicely your highness." He smiled and held out his hand.
I took it, and then I felt something, something so painful it was beautiful. I fell back only to be caught by Draco. I looked down at his arms. They were tough, and...Glowing.
