"I am going to college, right?" Lavinia broke the silence as she ate dinner with her parents.
"If that is what your heart desires, then yes." Her father replied, not looking away from the newspaper he was reading.
"I thought we have agreed on finishing school?" Her mother raised an eyebrow.
Lavinia shook her head, "And if my husband asked me to give it up... would I have to?"
"Where is all of this nonsense coming from? A wife's duty is to obey her husband." The woman scoffed as she continued eating her food.
"Do not worry, sweetheart. If your husband doesn't respect your ambitions, there are plenty more options."
Amelia gasped at his response, "I don't think that is wise."
"I am her father, it's up to me." He mumbled back, seemingly not scared by his wife's angered state.
"I am her mother!"
"Neither one, in a marriage, should have to abandon their dreams." He explained himself.
Amelia stood up from her stood, "But I had to! I had to give up everything to marry you."
She quickly excused herself and left the room to do god knows what.
Her father look at Lavinia with a small smile, "I'm sorry about that, sweetheart. Let's continue eating."
"Yes, father." Lavinia giggled as she could hear her mother mumble to herself from the other room.

"Something old..." Ruby began as they all stood in Prissy's room.
She showed them her necklace.
"Something new..."
Her hair accessories.
"Something burrowed..."
"Something blue..."
"And a silver sixpence!"
"In... my shoe." Prissy placed it in her shoe before giggling excitedly.
"Prissy," Anne sighed happily as she walked towards the girl, "I can only hope that one day, eventually, this union between you and Mr. Phillips will grow into one where you can both fulfil your heart's desires."
All the girls looked at each other hesitantly, grimacing at Anne's choice of words.
"Oh, well, I-I only meant that even if your marriage isn't all romantical, you can still have the most marvelous life in Toronto, and perhaps one day, you can go back to... school."
"That is enough, Anne." Lavinia quietly told her as she placed a hand on her shoulder for comfort.
"We'll leave you to it." Diana smiled at Prissy.
Jane waved her sister goodbye, "I'll see you out."
"You got this, Prissy." Lavinia sent her a sweet smile.
