Are You Still There?

1. Kara

Summary: Kara is under a lot of pressure to tell Lena that she is Supergirl, she is scared of ruining their relationship and losing her. Meanwhile, Lena is getting worried about Kara because of her guilt derived behaviour.

Notes: This story will have switching perspectives, so one chapter will be about Kara and the next about Lena etc. I hope that it won't be too confusing.

The sky was clear and quiet as Kara soared over National City. She could listen in on the city traffic from a distance as she admired the view of the many skyscrapers and zig-zagged through them. Most of them were lit up by the lights of the various offices that were inside them. The crisp air filled her lungs as she sighed; it had been a long day. After her long day of fighting rogue aliens, all she wanted was to have a quiet night-in with her wife.

She had married the beautiful and intelligent Lena Luthor six months ago. Since getting engaged at Alex and Kelly's wedding, the two had become inseparable. They shared everything with each other from their biggest fears to their wildest dreams.

"You make me a better person, Kara." Lena's words from their engagement echoed in Kara's head.

She hadn't told Lena that she was Supergirl yet. She meant to tell her when they first started dating, then when they had gotten engaged and then on their honeymoon but she kept chickening out. It just had gotten harder every day until Kara felt that she was in too deep.

Lena had been through so much betrayal in her life. Kara didn't want to add to it. But keeping this from her was single-handedly the hardest thing Kara had ever done.

She wanted to tell Lena every day but was too scared to. She was scared of how Lena would react, how it would affect her and their marriage. And she had to keep her safe from being potentially targeted by alien criminals.

She kept making up excuses why she shouldn't tell Lena and now the pressure was starting to really weigh on her. She knew that she wouldn't be able to keep the charades up for much longer.

Kara landed behind a van that was parked near the entrance of their loft building and speed-changed out of her suit, before making her way upstairs.

Lena, hearing the click of the front door opening, got up off the couch to greet her wife,

"Hey gorgeous! How was work?" she grinned, as she grabbed Kara by the waist and pulled her close.

Kara could hear Lena's heartbeat and smell her expensive perfume and immediately got butterflies in her stomach,

"Eh. It was ok I guess, pretty slow today." she shrugged, resting her arms around Lena's neck. She could hardly tell her that she had literally kicked ass all day.

"I'm glad to hear it!" Lena smiled, pulling her into a deep kiss, "Remind me, when are the others coming?"

"Alex said around 8pm." Kara said, loosening her grip on Lena and taking off her coat.

Tonight was their monthly game night, where everyone met up in the loft.

Alex had called ahead to confirm that she and Kelly would be coming with J'onn, and Nia had said that she and Brainy would be coming too.

Looking at the time, Lena turned to Kara,

"We'd better get set up then!"
