Summary: Lena is finally ready to go home to clear things up with Kara, when her plans get rudely interrupted by an old foe.

*Two days later*

Lena got up early and decided to make breakfast for her, Sam and Ruby, as a way to say thank you for their hospitality.

She tied her hair up into a ponytail and went downstairs in an old National City University sweater. She set the stove on to heat up, got three eggs out of the fridge and whisked them up in a small bowl. Then, she poured them into a small pan and started to scramble them.

Just then, Sam came downstairs,

"You're up early. Feeling any better?"

"Much! Thanks." Lena smiled, "Could you put some bread in the toaster?"

"As you wish, m'lady!" Sam bowed and laughed.

"I was thinking about calling Kara today..." Lena said, quietly.

"Oh! You're already leaving?"

"I just don't want to inconvenience you for too long and I feel like going home might be a good idea."

"Whatever you think is best. We're here for you either way." Sam gave her a reassuring glance.

"Is Ruby up yet?" Lena asked, as she started frying some bacon strips.

"Yep!" Ruby called as she came downstairs, "It smells great in here!" she smiled at Lena.

"You can start setting the table, we're almost done." Sam said to her.

Lena finished frying the bacon, as Sam poured some glasses of orange juice and Ruby got the plates and cutlery out.

Soon enough, they were all sat at the table, enjoying their food,

"This is really good, Lena." Ruby said, chewing on some bacon.

"Well, I had some help." Lena laughed as Sam winked at her.

"You know what you're going to say to Kara when you call her?"

"No... I think I'll just improv it. See where the conversation goes..." she shrugged.

"Someone's confident." Sam smirked.

They all laughed as they finished their food.

After breakfast, Lena went upstairs and closed the guest bedroom door behind her. Her hands trembled as she picked up her phone and scrolled down to Kara's contact.

She took a deep breath and pressed the call button, holding the phone up to her ear. She could hear rustling on the other end before she heard Kara's voice.

"Lena?" Kara's voice sounded frantic. Lena could have sworn that she could hear Kara's heart racing.

"Hey, darling..." she said with a shaky voice.

"Oh my god, Lena, are you ok? Are you safe? I'm so sorry for everything, I-"

"It's ok, Kara, I ... I was planning on coming home today... if that's ok, I mean..." she hoped Kara couldn't hear the tremble in her voice.

"Yes! Absolutely! You have no idea how nice it is to hear your voice. I've been so worried-"

"We'll talk about this later... ok?" Lena cut her off, her vision starting to cloud with tears.

"Absolutely, we'll take this at whichever pace you need." Kara exhaled.

"Thanks... I'll see you later then... bye."

Lena hung up, a single tear rolling down her cheek. She heard a knock at the door,

"Yes?" she wiped her eyes quickly, as Sam poked her head through the doorway.

"You ok?"

"Yes, thanks... I'm going home." Lena forced a smile, as she thought about finally being able to hug Kara again. She didn't want to admit it but she had missed her wife.

"I can help pack if you want, I don't need to be at work for another hour."

"That would be nice, thank you Sam." Lena gave her a hug.

She quickly contacted her driver that she would need a ride, before grabbing her stuff and packing up.

Half an hour later, her chauffeur was at the door.

She brought her things to the front door and said her goodbyes,

"Thank you so much for letting me stay here, you guys." she hugged them both tightly.

"Anytime, Lena. You just call if you need us, understood?" Sam smiled.

Lena nodded and carried her bag to the car. Her driver helped her in and they started driving,

"National City, please." she said.

Her driver turned around to face her as a small beam of light flashed, causing her to close her eyes and look away. When she opened them back up, her brother was grinning back at her.

"Lex?..." she whispered as she gasped.

"Hey, sis!" he turned to face her.

"An image inducer..." her breathing slowed.

A divider between her and the seat next to her was lowered, revealing her driver bound and gagged with a piece of tape over his mouth.

Lena barely had time to stifle a scream as a sack was shoved over her head and everything went black.
