re-reading his message, you let out a loud 'huh' in confusion. thankfully, you room with no one so you didn't have to worry about being quiet.

if sakusa was outside your hotel, wouldn't that mean he traveled from his hotel to yours in an hour? but it was way past curfew and he definitely looked like someone who cares about their curfew.

or was he tripping you out? he's not one to do that, let alone know, probably, that you have still have a match tomorrow.

once you quietly and successfully got out of your room, now in the hotel lobby, you easily spot a familiar mop of curly, black hair with his signature mask just outside the lobby doors.

"sakusa!" you called out making the boy turn his head to you. as you walked (jogged) towards him, you could visibly see how tired he was.

he wasn't even wearing a scarf or earmuffs and tonight was the coldest it has ever been!

you worryingly look at his state; up and down. "why are you here? at eleven in the evening, might i add. you know it's way past our curfew," you paused, seeing his cheeks red due to the coldness.

"and you're not even wearing a scarf! it's not like you to forget about basic things." you quickly wrap the scarf you had around his neck, struggling a little because of his height.

his gaze, shifting down to the ground as you wrapped the scarf around his neck. "sorry," sakusa muttered as you sighed.

"no, i'm sorry, i shouldn't have yelled. i'm just.. worried about you." you said, gently pulling him aside so other guests could walk through. "we lost the quarterfinals."

you empathetically look at him before gently dragging him toward a convenience store you've been eyeing ever since you got to your hotel.

"losing is something we can't prevent, it's a part of sportsmanship as well as our growth. it can serve as a lesson and motivation to do better next time and i'm saying this as a fellow athlete."

he glances at you, letting you drag him with the hem of his jacket. "losing doesn't make you a loser, you know? do you know how cool you look when you play? and you're literally the ace of your team! so turn that gloomy face into a happy one because,"

you paused, turning around to him with a bright smile sakusa had hoped to see today. "i'm buying you anything in this convenience store! cool, right?" you giggled and entered the store, skipping.

the way you perfectly shift from comforting as an athlete to a friend makes him feel.. something. his gaze on you felt like there was something else in it, he just can't seem to grasp it.

but with no doubt, you truly are one admirable athlete and he was grateful that even when you had only started talking for a month or two, he was grateful that someone as remarkable as you were friends with him.

subconsciously, he catches himself staring at you. perhaps it was due to the coldness or the luminosity of the moon because when he looked at you, you looked a bit more beautiful and brighter than usual.

he couldn't grasp that fuzzy feeling he felt in his chest; maybe it was the admirable athleticism you had or the fact he hadn't seen you for two days but he knew, friends don't look at friends like that.
